They've already made it clear that keeping Aranda is a priority, so surely they're discussing possible HC hires with the Goldenboy DC. Whoever he prefers to work with/for would be a major determining factor.

Maybe im giving the LSU administration too much credit, but i think this search begins and ends with Fisher/Herman. They're just dangling Ogeron's name to keep the team's momentum going for this season, but i dont buy that he's being seriously considered. Local media is eating it up because they want O and the media access he will give them.

Herman or Jimbo would both be homeruns, but Aranda has history with Herman, and possibly could even jump to wherever Herman goes next. I think that should be a major factor and even give a slight edge to Herman if thats who Aranda prefers. If for some reason he prefers Jimbo, id go that route first.

Herman + Aranda >> Jimbo without Aranda

You're exactly right on the media access point. fricking Derek ponamsky, what a bitch. All the media talking heads need to get fricked.

he may actually have some sway. I can see AD having a confidential chat with all of the present coaches on staff. again. I say that because I assume he already has (after miles got canned).

I really think everyone is giving too much credit to Jimbo. He's a good coach, sure. No doubt about that. But I think Jimbo is the most chicken shite hire we could make (outside of Da Coach O).

He is conservative, he gets thumped by Clemson more often than not, even with FSU's superior resources and talent.

There's no risk to hiring Jimbo, but the potential reward is minimal.

Media and dumb vocal fans fricked us last year. Looks like they're gonna try and go 2 for 2.

You can't exactly fault Derek. O knew exactly what he was doing when he hired him on.

i will say he is the safest hire we could make, but not a bad hire, still a very good coach. Any underachieving he's done at FSU is largely the fault that they wont pay a good DC to fix the defense. Offense and QB have never been a problem for Jimbo and would fix our glaring weaknesses at LSU.

Herman is a higher risk and higher reward i believe. Either one immediately gives us the 2nd best coaching staff in the SEC.

If by more often than not you mean he has a winning record against Clemson, and by thumped you mean an average margin of victory of 14.5 points with an average margin of defeat of 6 points, then sure. If that's what you mean then Jimbo does get thumped by Clemson more often than not.

I would hope zero. He will be gone ASAP when a HC is offered.

Why would you think that? He's a big part of the incentive for a new HC to come here, especially for an offensive minded guy.

He'd only leave for more money (which LSU would try to match), maybe a better situation, or to get a HC job. So its likely that he'll be here another year or 2 at least.

You seriously think his dream job is DC at LSU? If Herman leaves, he will be on the short list for HC there.

Hopefully none. The AD makes the hire the assistants do not make the hire.
