How hot does Sumlin's seat get if he doesn't make the right DC hire?

Malzahn could probably weather another mediocre year due to 2013.
Spurrier will leave on his own terms.

Sumlin under the most pressure to produce something next year?

I'm literally thinking it's almost Boom or bust for Sumlin (pun intended).

If he fails to land Muschamp, I think the clock starts ticking.

Venables, Narduzzi, Pelini, or Mattison wouldn't be a bust.

If it's Gibbs, he gone.

It's not like Texas AM doesn't have talent on the defensive side, it's just that they are soft.

What kind of buyout does KS have?

What if he does hire Muschamp or Venables and still goes 8-4 next year?

Assume a top 50 defense and a top 10 offense.

Arizona State (neutral) tossup
Ball State win
Nevada win
Arkansas (neutral) tossup
Mississippi State win
Alabama tossup
at Ole Miss tossup
South Carolina win
Auburn tossup
Western Carolina win
at Vanderbilt win
at LSU loss

A lot of variables

After 2016, there is no buyout from him if he leaves for the NFL.

Idk, they have 17 wrs on the roster. Obviously the talent lies on the other side of the ball. They need to spread some of those schollies out to the d.

Holmes
Parker
Gonzales
Jeffery
Iheanacho

Niederhofer is a walkon

I'm sure you picked Mississippi State to go 10-2, right?

Don't know if I'm right but that was my feeling about A&M watching them Thursday

They have a good chance (50/50 right now, comes down to if VT fires Beamer of not) at getting Bud Foster. They offered him 1.4 million, and if VT fires Beamer or even hints that Beamer is gone, Foster is off to A&M. VT already told Bud he won't be the next head coach after Beamer, the only reason he stays is because he feels he owes Beamer everything. So if Beamer is fired, Bud goes to A&M

I was laughing at calling the bama game a toss up. Also plenty of people thought state would be pretty good this year. They had a good d returning and a seasoned qb. y'all have a dline that got pancaked into submission last game.

I'd be VERY happy with Bud Foster. Scratch that, I'd be on my 20th jar if we got Bud Foster. Over 20 years as a defensive coordinator, his average total defense ranking has been between 15-16. His average scoring defense ranking has been 13. That's almost the exact OPPOSITE of A&M's defenses post-Slocum.

Total Defense

1995 - 10
1996 - 24
1997 - 26
1998 - 7
1999 - 3
2000 - 27
2001 - 2
2002 - 32
2003 - 51
2004 - 4
2005 - 1
2006 - 1
2007 - 4
2008 - 7
2009 - 12
2010 - 52
2011 - 10
2012 - 18
2013 - 4
2014 - 18

Scoring Defense

1995 - 5
1996 - 9(t)
1997 - 13
1998 - 4(t)
1999 - 1
2000 - 45
2001 - 2
2002 - 21
2003 - 45
2004 - 2
2005 - 2
2006 - 1
2007 - 3
2008 - 9
2009 - 9
2010 - 26
2011 - 7
2012 - 32
2013 - 11
2014 - 18

Not only that, but that immediately puts us in contention to get Ricky DeBerry and maybe even Josh Sweat.

I find it interesting that you say this as if his seat was mildly warm. I honestly think he will eventually be thought of as the 2nd best coach in the SEC.

If his staff doesn't find a defense in '15 I think people will start grumbling.

If he doesn't get Pelini or Muschamp it will get nice and toasty. Not hot, but toasty
