Bill Belichick was an NFL coach for 6 seasons before he got Tom Brady. How many of those were winning seasons?

Case Keenum came from a 3A high school and Houston was the only college to offer him a scholarship. The only other schools that even looked at him were UTEP, Baylor and North Texas. He was ranked as a 2 star recruit by Rivals. Its not like he was some big time recruit.

Sumlin has just as much to do with Keenum's success as Keenum has to do with Sumlin.

FYI - Sumlin didn't recruit or originally coach Case.

Brett Favre was a late pickup too. Curley Hallman made him.

doesnt really matter that Sumlin didn't recruit him.

He didn't even have to pick Case to run things. Case was not named the full time starter until Sumlin came in. He shared time his one year playing under Briles (was there for two but redshirted).

and at exaggerating what I said. I didn't say Sumlin made Case. I said they both were important to eachothers success.

Petrino is a great example...he isn't all that great without a very good QB.

So Dick is what a good QB to LSU?

Same was said about Leach at Tech. But he made those QBs like Sumlin has made Keenum.

Sumlin did great at OU as OC as well. His offense is of no concern. Who will be the DC is.

The more valid question is what is Briles without RG3?

Ok. Go look at Casey Dick in year 1.

Also, Wilson wasn't a top recruit coming out of high school, he was just ok.

Petrino develops QB's, that's what he does dumbass

You realize Briles recruited/coached Keenum. He's been at Houston for six years.

You're getting a coach everyone assumes developed Keenum. That person is at Baylor.

Briles is a brilliant offensive mind. Before Keenum, he had Kevin Kolb. Now, he has RGIII.

Sumlin is an awful hire. A&M should have broken the bank and hired Briles.

You do realize Petrino's ability to recruit and coach QB's a reason for his success correct?

Recruited him, yes, but Sumlin coached him for 4 years.

Was Urban Meyer a good hire for Florida? He did not recruit Alex Smith or for that matter Chris Leak.

I think we might have saw how good of a coach he really is last year when he didnt have Case Keenum at QB

That's what I've been saying.

Sumlin will be gone in three years at A + M. Many college presidents/athletic directors are naive and clueless. They just don't realize it takes much more than just being a "Great Recruiter " to be a successful head coach.
