How exactly did SW get “played”

When absolutely no one, here or in the media, knows what his actual plan is anyway?
Lots of melting for an AD who has so far hired two really good coaches and we honestly have no clue where he’s going with the football hire.

I keep asking myself, could any other school swing for Riley and get him? I’m not sure if they could. Scott went for it, and it failed(most likely). Let’s see who he hires before we call this a botched search

SW is right where he thought he would be the morning after the season ended. The posters saying the deal was done are completely off base.
There were too many variables with top coaches being looked at to make an offer. You aren’t offering a coach that might still make a conference championship or playoff birth. Did SW have talks with their agents? Yes. Just to gauge interest and discuss hypotheticals.
Many chips fell in place yesterday and now SW finds out who is really interested and who is not. He has long believed Riley would stay at OU but you never know what is going on in a guys head and what might be enticing to him. You only make shots that you take.
So today’s question that SW will find out is if Riley is indeed out, which appears so, or were his comments just to deflect the media like Saban did years ago? SW doesn’t control anything other than his side of the equation.
