Obviously we have out recruited you, on the field results says so.
John L went 4-8 with a loss to ULM. DWI
see how big of a difference a coach can make?

I actually thought it was pretty obvious.
coaching is the bottom line. Tenner has always had top25 classes, except for maybe one dud in Fulmers last years, and occasionally top 10.
its not like theres this one year where everything changed and kids stopped wanting to go to UT. even in the dumpster the classes have been good.
all these speculations on recruiting to tenn being a problem in the coaching search dont make much sense. must be something else falling to shite behind the scenes.

I'm beginning to believe that the hoopla following Kiffen leaving UT for USC may be factoring in. And I think the UT AD needs to be canned.

Strong had "major concerns" about the academics according to Hubbs.
This was on Monday before he turned it down.
Cheek and his goal of turning Tennessee into a top 25 research institution has become a big problem.
Two kids ruled ineligible this year by UT who were eligible by both the NCAA and SEC.

Well that's a new angle.

Sounds like someone needs to get rid of him.

i know this is recent, but how long have the standards been raised? are they really that much higher than other schools? if so, i can see this being a big prob.

this is why i dont get fulmer getting canned, one year out of the SECCG. did crompton kill your program?

Tennessee's first choice now is Butch Jones. If he turns it down or they can't work out an offer, the next in line to get an offer is Kirby Smart.
Tonight, either Jones accepts or negotiations begin with Smart.

with the talent Tennessee had, there is no excuse for going 5-7 in 2005 and 5-7 again in 2008.
imagine Tiger Rant if Les Miles pulled that.

So far, what is the score as to who's been offered, and who's turned it down?
And I thought Smart declined to interview with UT before?

Things may have changed. That's just a summary post from Shannon Terry on what he's hearing.

I'm surprised we're not hearing anything about Pelini.

He's still in Indianapolis trying to stop Wisconsin's offense.

I think Tennesee is a tough job right now..It is pretty hard for for either the SEC west or east to each have more than 3 top 15 type programs going at 1 time..Tenn has sank to the 2nd division in the east and any coach coming in is going to face huge expectations and not have more than 2 or 3 years to climb up with UGA, FL and SC.

Offered:
Gruden, Gundy, Strong
Pulled their name out:
Cutcliffe (pissed about how last coaching search was handled)
Gruden
Gundy (although Tennessee is reportedly talking with him again now)
Strong
Fedora (interviewed Tuesday, and was told he was fallback to Strong and Gundy; never offered)

That was just made up by a Bama fan here.
