Lane - Listen bud. If you stay, do you realize how much we will wreck shite this coming year.. I got this guy and this guy who want to come here in the portal. We can pay you close to what Tulane will pay and you will probably be able to get an even better HC job after these next couple of years.. Plus I can show you how I was able to expose your defense from time to time with a mobile QB

I could be wrong but I think this is Tulane not crossing all the Ts and dotting the lower case j’s. It seemed like a done deal until brass tax fricked it up some kind of way

Tulane is maxed out. This is the best it’s ever going to get. The best possible outcome is a replication of this season.
Tulane didn’t want to meet Baker’s vision of improving facilities and increasing NIL.
Without that, the opportunity of success is very slim, and it looks like this season, nothing more.
If Tulane improved facilities and increased NIL, Baker could be the coach that brought Tulane from G5 to P4. That’s a much bigger success than getting your arse handed to you in the playoffs.
That conversation was probably not a hard sell. He got a raise, less than what Tulane offered, but his path for success with LSU is far wider than the narrow road he would have to traverse with Tulane and those limitations.

Where did you get Baker only calling plays for 4 years from? He had a season at Miami (2019) where he did in fact call plays, plus his Missouri and current LSU tenure in addition to LA Tech. I know it’s mostly semantics but isn’t it closer to 7 seasons?

Baker's ole lady wanting family to stay
My aunt married a college football coach and I can definitely understand how you get sick of packing up the family constantly. Between firings and promotions they were at 8 different schools over 15 years.

I think working with Lane Kiffin will make Baker a much better DC.
He's a good one now, but has some vulnerabilities. Lane Kiffin was one of those people that picked his defense apart and now he'll go against him practice and have him in the film rooms.
