And all I'm saying is, when talking about the overall success of a program, you can't really leave that out, especially when making the BCS title game was ultimately out of our control.

It became abundantly clear to me, that without a guy the talent of a Cam, he is not nearly as good of a coach.
Can't you say this about any coach? A coach is only as good as the talent he has and the assistants he hires. How good would Miles be with yearly top 5 or top 10 recruiting classes. A good coach knows what to do with the talent when he gets it.

Agreed. But that's why I said after I made that statement that you could really say that about anybody.
But does his team's performance in the two seasons he didn't have Cam give you any comfort? Maybe 2009, but they took a huge step back in 2011. Let's see how he recruits and how those players pan out.
But I don't think Chizik is a very good coach. Everything sort of came together nicely in 2010 around a once in a generation player...

I believe a legitimate argument could be made that our offensive line did more for that team than Cam Newton did.
Example: Even if Cam had come back this year, I really don't see our record changing too much. Yeah, we'd probably beat Clemson, and *maybe* Arky, but UGA, LSU, and UA? I highly doubt it.

It gives me comfort that if Auburn lands top prospects, Chizik knows what to do with them. Would you be comfortable if you landed top 5 recruiting classes every year but never win a championship (UGA)?

Many LSU fans were saying that about Miles before 2011 season. They were fapping to him by the middle of the season. Of course many hate him again after 1/9.
Point is Chizik took advantage of an experienced team along with the best CFB player ad won a NC. Is he a one hit wonder? We shall see in the next 2 years what he does.

Ehhh...those teams with the exception of 2001 weren't any good.
I was going off the top of my head without researching. Those Florida and UGA teams were better. I know UGA has made it a common practice to shite the bed, but they've had much better teams than the 2004 and 2007 UT squads.

Ah, I must have missed this part of your original post. Can you point it out to me? I thought you just said UF and UGA were pretty much the only teams from the east in the SECCG. Was I wrong?

No..that's what I said. I just don't remember those UT teams being good. 2007 was a freak year; I was there when LSU played UT in the Georgia Dome. That was a pretty shitty team UT rolled out there.
Those UF and UGA teams were much better as a whole than 2004 and 2007 UT teams. Just my opinion, again.
