I couldn't see a LSU, Texas or Michigan big time type taking him from the Cajuns. My guess is he eventually takes a job at a bigger school with less history of success. Like a Oklahoma Sate, Mississippi State, Arizona type of hire.

He's a very good coach. I would have no problem with it at all.

He may well be a "very good coach" down the road, but he's winning in one of the weakest conferences out there & last yr, with one of his better teams, barely beat a medicore Tulane team in the N.O. Bowl. If you really feel matching wits with coaches in that league vs the HC's he'd face in the SEC, you really don't follow college football. How many times has he even won that conference??

quote:You have to be relative here. He is the best coach in ULL history, by an unreal margin. A program that had won 9 games once in it's existence, and he has won 9 games in his first 3 years. He did the same for North Alabama. How many conference titles did Saban win at Mich St?

Why the hell is this anchored? This is one of the most realistic threads regarding LSU on this board right now

You people are crazy! Going up against North Texas isn't the same as Alabama or Auburn. This program went through this in the nineties with a group of less than mediocre coaches. Hearing all of this now I hope Miles stays.

quote:No shite, but it is relative. He isnt winning at ULL with LSUs players. So you thought Saban would suck didnt you? And you thought Bear would suck, Urban would suck, Knute rockney would suck, Lombardi would suck, etc. They all start somewhere. With the line of thinking you have there should never be any new coaches.

quote:No I didnt think Saban would suck.He virtually brought MSU back from the dead. Plus,Saban came out of the Mac ,which is light years ahead of the Sunbelt. I would put Toledo up over ULL anytime.
So you thought Saban would suck didnt you?

Unfrickingbelievable. Reading Hudspeth's name in the same breath as Saban's....and I detest Saban. "Be relative"? Hypothetically we are talking about replacing a HC who has won a NC, a SEC championship, won 12 regular season SEC games, the SECCG, in the proverbial toughest division in the toughest conference in college football..and has been so for yrs...and replace him with a coach whose resume is "relative"?
