How confident are you guys that Alleva and F. King won't screw this hire up?

As a fan of an opposing school and sorta-rival I can only hope for the worst for you guys for selfish reasons of course.

But where's your confidence level at for your administration's ability to get a great hire done?

Alleva had fisher last season until Alexander fricked it up..

Alleva has made some great hires and some bad hires over his time at both duke and LSU, like every athletic director ever. People forget Foley hired Zook and muschamp, and the great skip bertman hired smoke laval and Les miles

I'm more worried Alexander will step in more than I am Alleva picking the right guy

I am 80% sure Fisher will come to LSU but 85% sure that the combination of Alexander and Alleva can mess up an 80% lean.

Not very confident. Sometimes think Kent Lowe could do better.

Its not Alleva. Its F King. Hes the POS politician that plays the office politics games. If he stays out of the way Im confident in Alleva. Alleva knows his leash is short so he doesnt want to frick this up. On the other hand he gave us an extra away game for no good fricking reason in the UForfeit frickery.

Les miles is gone so you should be concerned no matter what.

This might be a shitshow. We have until at least Tuesday before anything is official...Tue/Wed/Thur...somewhere in there, IMHO

Well reasoned post.

I'm going say my confidence level is low, though, somewhat based on what you said... In truth, every AD ends up making good hires and bad hires. There's too many variables to be able to guess things will end well no matter who gets the nod.

First, no matter who LSU hires, a portion of the fan base will be pissed. A lot of pro Herman people are strongly anti-Jimbo... and vice-versa. And not even getting into the percentage of fans who will be angry if it's Orgeron, Fedora, or other. So, right off the bat, there's an irrational portion of the fanbase who will become the loud minority voice the first time they see something they don't like.

Two, both Jimbo and Herman seem to have more leverage than LSU going into this negotiation. So, even if we end up with choice 1A or 1B, it's going to be expensive... This means they will be expected to win immediately, and there will be little patience for either to rebuild.

Even if all goes relatively smoothly, some hires just don't work out and seem like bad hires in hindsight. It happens to the best of programs.

So, overall, it just seems more likely this will go sideways or worse than it is that the hire will meet or exceed expectations.
