Talked about his recent communication with some LSU football Alum. “All of his former players would run through a brick wall for him.” Nothing more, just a little nugget I heard on his show. Thought I would pass along. I personally like the hire.

Seems like you know something and want the rantards to not overreact when the hire gets made

That’s great but can he get back to form?

Former player are nice to have around a program. However they should have no influence whatsoever in coaching searches. Let O run his program.

He also said he didn’t think Bo would clash with O at all. Said while Miles was forcing the offense to repeat drills over and over, Bo had the d run their drills and sit on the field til the offense was done.

Has he not read the board?

Former player approval is just the dash of hot sauce in a bowl of gumbo. The bowl of gumbo is O. Don’t get wrapped up in a simple quote. It’s simply meant to give you some reassurance.

O is. I think this is in response to many people blasting Pelini's attitude as a hot head and hard to work with.

I think Pelini will be the DC and I’m shocked it hasn’t been made official yet.

I did find it interesting that Hester prefers to see a 3-4 defense against spread teams because of the confusion it creates. Said he hated playing against 3-4.

I know that the players (LSU personnel) would rather a 4-3.

True. Probably because it’s simpler to learn. 3-4 is more complicated. But 4-3 is also easier to read. I really don’t think it matters much as long as you play to the strengths of your athletes.

I think whatever the players will sell out to the most is the scheme you run. Any confusion or uncertainty and they can’t play downhill.

The main hold up is his family, namely his brother and his current staff. The guy has integrity. 1.3 to 1.6 range is what i was told was on the table. The longer it takes, the lesser the chance it’s him in the end tho. That’s why I’m puzzled LSU hasn’t issued a statement making it official

I know that Leonhard from Wisconsin was vetted and strongly considered but O had reservations about it, they think he will leave eventually and they want someone here long term to sell to recruits.

I met him in person once, while working for LSU catering.

Got me a huge plate of food from the buffett after all the recruits and parents left. Workers got to eat before breaking down the buffet etc.

He walked by and looked at my plate and asked me if I was hungry while laughing. I said YUP.

Seemed like a cool guy to me

He is definitely hated on this board, known as a jerk etc.

If I had to put a grand on it, Pelini. If not him, who knows. Seems like O is all in on him.
