When I first started posting on this forum it seemed as though Herman might be the focus of a three-headed bidding war: LSU, TX, and USC.

Now, it is looking like USC will definitely not fire their coach and, depending on who you believe, neither will TX. That leaves LSU.

If LSU has already got their guy (Jimbo?) man, has Herman's stock fallen. He's gone from "soon to be a very rich man" to "hanging on at Houston for one more year and seeing what happens in 2017."

Of course, he could end up at ND.

Are you still claiming to not know anything or have you come to the conclusion that people know you know stuff???

You're very specific and you don't speak in hypotheticals in the same way other people do when they are just speculating.

I mean if LSU were to get Jimbo, is FSU not then in the hunt for Herman?

I assure you, I know nothing. Just trying to make reasonable observations based on the current situation. The only advantage I may have over some other folks is I am more experienced at following the carousel than most.

But, my experience has taught me one thing - every situation is different.

I still believe LSU has their guy. As to who it is, I have no idea. Conventional wisdom says it is either Jimbo or Herman.

But, several years ago there was an awful lot of speculation and names thrown out about who the next LSU coach would be. And, virtually no one was talking about Nick Saban until he walked out from behind the curtain to be introduced as LSU's new HC.

My post was more a general comment about how quickly the carousel can change. If Herman is the guy and his agent was holding off because he thought he could get several schools involved in a bidding war, looks like that won't happen.

I have no idea who FSU would target. I have talked to a few people and we have come up with some "somewhat reasonable" names that FSU might be interested in.

Herman is one. Others include the usual suspects: Brent Venables, P J Fleck, Hugh Freeze, Dan Mullen, Chad Morris, Mark Richt, Mike McIntyre, Dino Babers, Bobby Petrino, Lane Kiffin and about 10 others I can't think of now.

Several of those aren't interested for a variety of reasons. Several others are probably not on our ADs A, B or C list.

But, none of us know anything. Just tossing out names.

Heck, if I were AD the first call I would make would be to Tony Dungy. I know he would say, "No," but I would call him just for the pleasure of having him turn me down.

Now, y'all just make sure you beat uf by about 40 in a couple of weeks.

Yep, USC ain't firing Helton and I've said as much weeks ago. When they finally started Darnold, they've been beating up on everybody. Washington shoule be their only loss on the rest of the schedule, but USC could also upset UDub.

I think if Strong can finish out with an 8-5 record, he won't be let go either. That's actually the record I expected from them before the season. That team will be a force next year along with USC.

LSU grabs Herman, finishes off the recruiting class strong, and is on to a new era free from horrible QB play.

I think if he isn't going to Texas and either prefers FSU over LSU or feels Jimbo is plan A for LSU, then that could be where he goes. If I'm FSU I'd have already told his agent that if Jimbo leaves They want Herman

I spent the weekend with a bunch of UT alums. They're all successful pretty well connected guys, so I tend to believe them. They all seemed confident Strong would be retained. They said that the only people talking about Strong getting fired were the media and message boards. Take it for what it's worth, I just thought I'd share.

If Aranda, O, and Herman could be on the staff together yes, otherwise , O is the best option IMO.

I think if O wins out he's still the 4th option at best. Which gets him an interview and who knows. Also if he wins out he may get a shot at a mid major or fcs school

Did we even have message boards and social media in 1999? I don't think so

that's why we didn't hear much IMHO
