Herman may be on a silver platter. Apparently Texas is holding off on Herman because they think they've got a Dabo and John Harbaugh in the discussion.

Seems very doubtful anyone really in the know would ever post vital information on a message board. Sure, there are outliers and some nail the info spot on. Most posts seem to be speculation and posters building credibility based on reports from news agencies and the popular opinion of message boards.

All this Jimbo negotiations are BS. If Jimbo is the guy, the negotiations would have been had a long time ago and an agreement reached.
So it makes me wonder why they're throwing this stuff out there, because there are no offers, counter offers going on right now between Jimbo and LSU.

Jimbo did not "turn us down" -- he simply had some requests/tweaks that needed to be made. Minor details in the thick of things, imo. I expect him to be named after this weekend.

Herman doesn't want to miss on LSU waiting for Texas. Texas is behind the curve in their search. Texas needs a Jim Harbaugh type of hire go get their guy. With the money they will offer some feel they can take someone's coach. Much like you saw them going after Saban. They don't want to be topped by the Oregon or LSU hire.

Personally, I believe LSU has its man. Not sure if it's Jimbo or Herman (or a semi-surprise like Gundy), but I don't think there's any negotiations going on at this point. LSU has its next coach locked up and all the rumors from the last few days are just to keep people guessing and give their guy a chance to finish the season. A secondary motive for the rumors might be to identify leaks and clean house.
I don't think it's as complex as some of the rumors would have you believe..multiple offers, counter offer from Jimbo, back up plans, outcome of Texas-TCU, etc etc... LSU knows who its next coach will be and it's merely a matter of getting to Sunday/Monday announcement.
