i haven't heard squat about a coaching search that supposedly now does not include les miles ... miles knew what was on the line, called that presser and danced around the issue ... there is still wiggle room with what he said to tracy wolfson .. he said he'd be the coach at LSU next year .. the NC game will be played "next year" ...

Honestly, I dont think Miles is that clever/slick.

There are supposedly twenty names on the advisory committee's list to examine/vet. Les was one, some information on calls made to GVSU, CMU would indicate they are looking at Brian Kelly's background. There is a media report that Mich has asked to talk with Brady Hoke (Ball St. HC - Mid-America Conf) former Lloyd Asst. All of this seems to be filler, due-diligence, courtesy stuff to keep folks (mostly meaning the media) occupied, and fans sated.
Mich, despite what people think, is slow-moving in these things. They have not hired a coach from outside the program in 40 years. They are very conservative, extremenly conscious about how they appear. They will likely interview a minority candidate soon, and publicly, to avoid any of the backlash TAMU got for Sherman's hiring. They are PC to the max at Mich. Outside of Cambridge and Berkeley this is the most tree-hugging bunch of progressives in America.

tom o'brien's name is being kicked around right now

Yes, and it looks like they will give him a second interview as well. The first was not really an interview as a discussion of his and Mike Debord's futures.
Karl Dorrell is out there now as well is he not?

Wow, Nick Saban. Couldn't be a tougher choice for Mich. Did real well with little talent at MSU. I'm sure he was talked about. But, the second he gets the job, he seems to be looking for the next one. His jumping around would seem to work against him.
He does get results, but is really not all that personable. It would take some warming up for the Regents to think in his direction.

I like Petersen as well. I do hope that they look at some mainstream guys as well: Stoops, Meyer would at least tell them where they are at in the new world pecking order.

O'brien would be no better than Lloyd Carr

It will either be Kelly or English.

if its English....I'd be pissed if I were a UM fan

Recalling the Schembechler hire. Canham wanted JoPa. JoPa said no. Canham sucked it up and called Woody. Not to hire, but for his thoughts. Woody said he would be stupid not to hire Bo.
I would hope that Martin is getting input from the coaching fraternity about who to look at. Ron English scares me.
