I disagree 100%. It is all about timing. Bama lucked up that they needed a coach and Saban wanted out of NFL. Same with Ohio St and Urban, he was looking for a job and OSU needed someone. Harbaugh wanted out and his alma mater put up enormous money. We are a top 10 job, but timing (minus Nick Saban in 1999) has been awful for us.

Fisher is easily a top 5-7 coach

Well a coach would have to be pretty confident to enter the toughest division in the country (SEC West). It's definitely a crap shoot, especially for an up and coming, untested, young coach.

It's true I've been trying to say that but rantards don't listen.

They think we have the greatest resources out of every program

If UT decides to drag out the Strong situation, they risk losing Herman to an LSU opportunity that’s one of the Top 20 jobs in the country if not Top 10.

Everything you posted is bullshite. LSU coaching job is top 10 but it wasn't top10 until Saban, and this is only the second search since then.

LSU is and will be an elite program. Hello? We put more players in the NFL than any other program. If that's not elite I don't know what is. Unfortunately, we did LES with more that should've been allowed. Fact is we had the best team in NCAA history and Miles blew it. Well factually the fn BCS blew it. No way shape or form should we have had to play Bama twice but I digress. Miles blew it. We've been suffering ever since. That doesn't make us NON elite, what it makes us is in need of a new coach.

This is what I think about this whole situation. LSU fired Miles after week four. In weeks 6, 7 and 8 Houston struggled. They lost two of those three games and went down to the wire with Tulsa. Does anyone think that LSU has not been trying to get their ducks in a row the past 9 weeks?

The only people who really knows anything are those doing the hiring and the ones who are being hired... And agents. I think LSU and Herman's agent were in talks and Herman might have been distracted during the time his team struggled. Just like today, Houston lost.. There has been a distraction since yesterday.. Not saying that him being distracted is the reason they lost, BUT.. in reality, no one knows what is going on until it is all made official. I think where there is smoke, there's fire, but I think everyone should just chill. Whatever happens, happens.

True "elite coaches" aren't looking for jobs and they are all made "elite" by their current employment.

There are only 3 or 4 elite coaches. Saban, Urban and Harbaugh are secure at great programs.

The next level is Jimbo types.

Herman could be a Jimbo level or maybe a future Urban level.

But, can we get one of them...
