The only way The Mad Hatter succeeds at Michigan is if the boosters and AD let him coach his way. He's not a tight lipped, yes-man. He doesn't play it close to the vest. In the past, that's what UM and Ohio State need and want. If you ask Miles to be quiet, and punt on fourth down, your gonna lose to tOSU every year, but if they let him coach, he'll win.

In answer to your question, Les' coaching greatness depends on your point of view. I don't think he ends up at Michigan because I don't think they can wait until Jan 8th.

You didn't do anything Wolverine. You asked a simple question. Nothing wrong with that at all. While I do appreciate the passion and the emotion behind some of the replies, some of them are out of line IMO.
I think Miles record speaks for itself. I don't think you get to 32-5 and are about to play in your second SECCG in 3 years if you aren't a good coach. Yes, we do have some talent, but a good coach knows how to use that talent. Sure, we sometimes question his judgment and his use or non use of some of these talented players, but that's why he's on the sidelines every week making these decisions. And he has never apologized to anyone for the decision he makes. He stands by his players, and stands by his convictions on the football field. I don't want him to leave, but will wish him all the best if he does.

Oh great, a Bama fan.

Still but hurt from the 2000 Orange Bowl?

Carr has been TERRIBLE in BCS bowl games, yet we still beat you.

Yea, Les is terrible. You don't want him. Just leave him to coach us dumb backwater hicks. Go hire Terry Bowden he'd be better.

Yes I have. I watched him throw a TD with 3 seconds left on the clock against Auburn.

I watched him run a fake FG against SC. And against UF, when UF expected it.

I watched him convert 5 fourth downs against UF.

Historically UM wants a coach that will run on 1st and 2nd down, and pass only when you have to. Thats not Les Miles.

SlowFlowPro,

You gotta keep in mind, we're talking about the old boys club here at Michigan. Trgovac would be brtual hire IMO but, since he played under Bo, he is seen as a God in some fans eyes

That is definitely true.
But even the Big Ten is coming out of the stone ages. When Tressel brought out the spread offense last year, it changed everything.

Michigan's AD and the fans realize that it's time to open up the offense. Maybe we'll stop losing to D1-aa schools

Nice post! You're welcome here anytime. We can take the criticism, constructive or not. We've developed thick skin down here!

You make some good points, and I have thought about those things myself. Who knows??? I just hope we take care of business these next two games and play like that team that beat VA Tech. We'll have more than a month to get ready for whoever survives!!!

Another great thing for the Big Ten was Zook becoming HC at Illinois.
He's recruiting tremendous athletes and I think they'll rip through the conference next year.

This will force the likes of Michigan to actually start recruiting some speed on defense.
