There was one recruiting cycle where O didn’t accept commitments from 3 DB prospects and signed several edge guys instead. 2 of those guys ended up at Texas.

That is leadership 101 or Management 101! When things are going great, give credit to those around you that helped make it happen and when things fail, the buck stops with the leader and he must step up and be accountable for the overall outcome.

2018 class, 2 guys were Juco but LSU only got one. 2 DL/edge guys were from one school. Green and Cooks were the DBs that ended up at Texas not counting the Sterns flip, Raymond had another prospect that he was going to get.
Coincidentally this snafu resulted in them being able to get Burrow.

Raymond thought he alone was DBU and that the brand would recruit itself. He whiffed on Patrick Surtain and he whiffed on that CB that went to Clemson. He also mismanaged the CB room to the extent that we had to sign the Nichols State players, Raydar, D.McGhee, and a bunch of other dudes that didn’t amount to starters. This CB room worse now than it was for the Fiesta Bowl against UCF. Both of those are on Raymond.
