Going on the Record: I want Jimbo over Herman or anyone else

I'd rather have a coach I know is competent who has performed at a high level for a long time and can get us to 10 wins a year with real potential to beat anyone than a coach who is considered the next great thing but hasn't demonstrated it over time.
Miles was doing that for awhile, but the game passed him by. Jimbo is a great and solid offensive coach. Keep Aranda or get Pruitt when Aranda leaves and let Jimbo develop QBs, run the offense, and run the program and LSU returns to being a top 5 program for the next 15 years.
That is what I want.
Get Jimbo. Pay the man. If he won't come, then roll the dice with Herman if you can get him. If not, I'd go after Dan Mullen as a solid coach who can run an offense, develop QBs, and hire a great DC with the resources LSU has - keep Aranda or get another top DC.
1. Jimbo
2. Herman
3. Mullen
That would be my choice.

He doesn't even get 10 wins now, what makes you so sure he would do it in a better conference. I'm not opposed to him, but he is down on my list.

Herman man. Jimbo wouldn't be bad either, but Herman has been my first choice.

3. Cutcliffe.
Yeah. Same thing.
How old is he, though? How much does he have left in the tank?
I want stability and a decade of 10 win seasons with a shot at a championship over and over again. I want a QB who can actually throw the ball, a strong running game, and a great defense. I want LSU football to be what it is supposed to be.

When he had a good def coordinator, he was damn near unbeatable

Sounds like a X-Mass list. Hope you been a good boy, but Mullen ? Really ? At that point you think Miles is still interested ?

I'm all in for Herman.
ALthough I understand why people would want Jimbo, I think his salary coupled with his buyout isn't worth the overall cost.
Herman is a great up and comer and has proven he can hang with the Louisvilles of the world.

Mullen is an excellent coach who can develop QBs. Not a flashy hire but has substance and runs the Urban Meyer offense like Herman.

What Mullen has done at Mississippi State over time is pretty remarkable. He deserves far more credit than he has gotten. If he had the resources that LSU has, could hire top assistants, and recruit, he would be as good a Herman might be, in my opinion.
It is a mystery to me why Mullen hasn't gotten a big time offer yet.
In eight seasons, this is only Mullen's second losing season.
He has a 59-42 record at MISSISSIPPI STATE.
A 4-2 bowl record.
A 28-35 record in the SEC while coaching in the SEC West during its toughest stretch.
He is only 44 years old. What he has done there is incredibly impressive. He would be amazing at LSU.

I agree with all of this, when he left UF that's when Urban's chest pains started.
