Gerry DiNardo, Saban, Miles weren’t considered good “cultural fits” either.

I know the “He’s one of us” crowd looks upon anyone not from the south as an alien, but remember DiNardo was a New Yorker with roots at Notre Dame and the mid west. (And of course turned out to be a dud). But Saban was a relatively unknown entity from West Virginia who primarily went to school and coached in the Midwest as well (Kent St, Browns, Mich St). Miles was the consummate “Michigan Man” who spoke a weird dialect and wore his hat in a funny way. Fans around here couldn’t initially relate to or understand any of those guys either. WINNING cures all and that’s why Saban and Miles…2 guys who have no connection to LA before or after their stints here…were still accepted/appreciated.

Give it time…Kelly will win and all of a sudden the combination of his coaching success and the talent at LSU will make him a great “cultural fit”. Everyone else can seriously pack their bags for destin and have Ed O rub sunblock on their backs.

Dinardo wasn’t a dud, his entire tenure taken into account. He started the fence building. Just saying.

Miles absolutely. Saban is just Saban. DiNardo not at all.

You're basically looking at DiNardo here.

The “bad fit” is the take for people who want to criticize the hire but are smart enough to know they can’t do it on BK’s merits. If you can win football games, you are a good fit for LSU.

Our last cultural fit wasn’t exactly a rockstar coach. I’m grateful for 2019 don’t get me wrong but I never saw Orgeron as a very good coach if we’re being honest.

The close mindedness of many LSU fans when it comes to “outsiders” is the same mentality that keeps Louisiana near the bottom in other things like education and the economy. We need a culture change at LSU. Combine Kelly’s no nonsense and disciplined approach with all the talent in Louisiana and you have a recipe for success. Time to get some respect back rather than being laughed at all the time for all the drama we perpetuate

You’re in every thread making an absolute fool of yourself. No one agrees with you. Stop trying to talk people into thinking it’s a bad hire. You just have bad, terrible takes.

Exactly.

Dinardo wasn’t a dud and he actually had a good personality and was really like able as a person. He did great things early on in his time at LSU. He did “bring back the magic”. He had the unfortunate timing of coaching at LSU when Joe Dean was an athletic director and we didn’t pay assistant coaches jack squat. We started winning and other schools poached our coordinators. We wouldn’t pay enough to keep what we already had, much less pay enough to find quality replacements.

Dinardo did alright. He made the program appealing enough that it caught the eye of a coach from the Big 10 looking to get out of the shadows of Michigan and Ohio State.

Maybe, I was saying I'll see you guys in 3-4 years when the coaching change board opens up... but you guys are stuck for 7-8 years even if the ole bastard only wins 2 games a year.

Scotty, you were told multiple times I don't care if you fire Ed. Your Jimbo hire was horrible, and this one will eventually be worse.
