Gary Patterson is going no where - give it up

I like how whenver a name program in a power 6 conference has an opening that Gary Patterson is always included on the list of potential candidates. Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, it goes on
If he was interested he would have gone a long time ago. But every year he hangs up the phone and says no to several schools.
I don't know how much you pay attention to the school in Fort Worth but before Gary Patterson was coach there were no facilities, the attendance was bad, an old stadium, etc. Now there are first class facilities, a brand new stadium, state of the art practice facilities, and more. All because of Gary Patterson.
And for those of you not paying attention to this year's Horned Frog team, 70% of the starters are freshman. 20 of 22 starters will return next year, plus all the lost players from injury, and former 5* transfers will be eligible. Despite the team being decimiated this year and so young & inexperienced, the team has won 7 games and is looking for an 8th. And the future is bright, this team will probably be picked to win the Big 12 next year, or at least be picked in the Top 3.
I don't see why he would walk away from all he has built here and God-like status in Fort Worth, as well as a young developing team that will contend for the Big 12 title the next few seasons for a lateral move to go rebuild another program.
And yes, it is a lateral move. He has everything he needs in Fort Worth to win a championship. It's not like TCU is in the Mountain West anymore. And even in the MWC, he has one second away from the title game in 2009 and a missed field goal in Berkley from going in 2010.
Gary Patterson is set, he is fine where he is. Now go dream about another candidate because your team ain't getting Coach P.

For being a near-God, I'm shocked more people don't come to the games to fill up a tiny stadium for such a great coach.

Look at his losses this year. That amazing d gave up a lot of points in those games and finished 4-4 in the big 12. Hes a good coach, but hasnt proved anything imo.
Lsu lost just as good if not better players to attrition. Started 2 freshmen in the line, multiple frosh in the dback field a frosh at rb, frosh at lb.
Not to mention the multiple underclassmen played at wr, rb, oline, te, d line and safety.

Trying to argue Patterson ISN'T a great coach is a losing proposition. He most certainly is. One of the top 10 in college football, IMO.

Auburn interviewed him during the Chizik search. He didn't have a good interview.

I just said hes a good coach, but no im not convinced hes better than what we have. Thats just my opinion. People say hes a defensive genious. Well wtf happened?
Oh and LSU plays in the best conferences against some if the best coaches in the country.
Its funny how he loses 5 games and is a great coach, Les loses one game and is called an idiot, sob, bafoon, etc..

TCU needs to get used to it for Arkansas, Tennessee and Auburn probably will come after GP. He will never win a National Championship there and I am sure he is fine with it. Mediocrity deserves mediocrity and maybe you are meant for one another.
I just think it is so funny for a coach to say, I don't think there is anything to that when asked about another job. He might as well said if they offer me a butt load of money and give the chance to win bigger and better in the best conference in the land then I am in.

Well...he does have a Rose Bowl to his name and took a mid-major to national spotlight and a BCS conference.
One so-so year doesn't change that.
And quit whining about Les Miles.

if he's not going anywhere you will know in 1-2 weeks. no need to start a post to convince yourself.

This. I find it interesting that if someone was so damn sure Patterson wasn't going anywhere why would you waste time posting all the reasons he isn’t. We’ll find out one way or the other soon enough.

How pissed will this TCU fan be if GP does leave?
I mean lots of jobs open not just ours. He could end up a number of places.

Don't forget he make $3.5M on top of all of that....Patterson going nowhere....Tennessee would be a good fit but cannot see him leaving Fort Worth.
Gary is a great coach but his DC Dick Bumpus is the best in D1.
Bump played at Arkansas but I think he would like to retire in FW.
Have known them both for 23 years....coaches love to be considered to get raises for them or their assistants or more facilities.
Patterson played at Kansas State and that is the only place I see him ever leaving TCU to coach.

Right, like every coach wants to coach at his alma mater. Let’s see there’s Mike Gundy and, well there may be more but I can’t think of any off the top of my head. What I do know is that these coaches aren’t coaching at their alma mater; Nick Saban, Les Miles, Mark Ritch, Will Muschamp, Steve Spurrier, Bob Stoops, Gary Patterson, Urban Meyer, Mack Brown and the list goes on and on and on. A person coaching at their alma mater is the rare exception, not the norm.
