Yeah, my original assumption after the Ole Miss AD’s announcement was that he knew Kiffin’s decision and they were just crafting a message to make it viable for Kiffin to coach the Egg Bowl. In that scenario, it’s clear Kiffin is leaving or they would announce he signed his extension. I’m coming around to the possibility that the AD really doesn’t know Kiffin’s decision. If that’s the case, then it’s possible Kiffin hasn’t decided yet and is cutting off negotiations this week to avoid distractions. It’s the Saturday announcement date that still leads me to believe he has made a decision or why would he put a specific date, especially if he’s not negotiating? More specifically, why would he cut off the possibility of announcing he is staying before the Egg Bowl if staying really were a possible outcome? I just don’t see any interpretation of the known facts that would make staying at Ole Miss a plausible result. That doesn’t mean he’s not going to Florida, but I feel better about the chances vs Florida than if staying at Ole Miss were an option.
