This thread got me excited so I called two of my brothers back home (Clarksville) to see if anyone can give me any news around town on what the Gator Killer is talking about. One of my bros says only one name will make Travis as giddy as he appears but offered nothing more. Other brother told me to go frick myself and hung up.

Lol, I got a brother like that. Didn't Travis Stephens play for Gruden and Tampa Bay?

yeah...TS was a Buccaneer. So, we'll see soon enough. I think the Vols wants to have a HC announce by 12/20..from what I heard, not sure how much truth in that though

Currie has told recruits that we WILL have a coach in place before early signing period.

3rd? Despite revisionist history, there weren't Grumors when Kiffin was hired.

Stephen Hargis, Chattanooga Times Free Press, was interviewed by Finebaum Wednesday afternoon.

He said sources (Blackburn, potential coaching staff Gruden has contacted, among others) indicate that since Butch was fired, a push is underway to clear hurdles in getting a deal done soon with Gruden.

He said Gruden is trying to ensure he can assemble a coaching and support staff that gives him high confidence in quickly getting up to speed on college rules, recruiting, coaching and achieving success.

Hargis said the odds have risen subtantially this week to perhaps even 50/50 that Gruden may become UTs next coach.

Odds or probability? The probability has always been 50/50 that *anyone* will be Tennessee's next coach? Odds and probability seem to be different animals.

Hargis knows his stuff and one the first one to break news in 2012 that VOLS/Gruden was much further along than people thought.

IIRC, he got completely destroyed by some when it did not happen. He seemed very confident on the Finebaum interview yesterday

I wish we could have UT coaching searches every year. They're, they're just the best.
