Damn, Florida is a better job than UT by any objective measure.

I have a hard time believing Gundy turned down UF to possibly stay at Okie Lite or go to Tenn. UF is hands down a much better job than either of those.

No way Gundy turned down UF only to take the UT job.

It depends on how much money they were willing to offer

UF doesn't have to pay 8m like UT

So Gundy used UF as leverage against UT to get that astronomical offer

Florida obviously didn't offer 8 mill a year or whatever astronomical amount UT is offering.

Gotta throw the money at him. It's the only way. Gators may have been tight wads when they offered

IF this is true, there is still a lot of ambiguity about the “offer”. There are usually offers, counter-offers, and other negotiations before a coach accepts the job.

Maybe UF felt Gundy was angling for a raise, or Mullen entered the picture while they were negotiating.

I doubt a lot of legwork and negotiations took place, a contract was sent to Gundy, then he decided he would rather stay in Stillwater, only to bolt to Knoxville a few days later.

Someone will have to offer an astronomical offer for him to leave Okie st.

Its his alma mater, big donors at Okie state, and his style fits perfectly with the Big 12.

I don’t doubt that we may have reached out to him at some point when they were gauging interest of various candidates, but don’t think it got to a point where he was offered the job. Mullen has been in the works since their Ole Miss game.

Florida may have offered Mullen $5M, he said no, so they offered Gundy $4M, he said no, then Florida went back to Mullen with $6M.
