My answer is NO!

But that doesn't mean Miles didn't deserve to get fired, because he did. Look at what LSU did his last 4 years at LSU both overall record but more importantly SEC record. Then look at how many players LSU has in the NFL, Miles squandered more talent than any coach in college. He sat on his record his first 6 years at LSU and refused to adapt when the game had passed him by. I wish him nothing but success wherever he lands, but I know if he is successful it is because he was fired from LSU which finally woke him up!!!

He will certainly do no worse than Miles over the past 3 seasons.
However he is not inheriting a team two years removed from a National Championship and stocked with talent including two very good quarterbacks. LSU's brand has been damaged over the past three years while the brand was on the upswing when Elmer Fudd was hired in 2005

Most of the ones I know personally were.

No, but being glad he is gone without consideration of the significant downgrade in head coach resumes does count as stupidity.

Hey Groupee, I don't think O is a downgrade at all. I think he is a winner.

otoh, Lester was a clown coach, only adored by gullible people like you.

Bashing les miles has nothing to do with coach O. Les miles refused to change a prehistoric offense, therefore making LSU a joke for years. Coach O will get judged on what he does.

Les was possibly an offensive coordinator hire away from making the playoffs this year

Les Miles adopted a powerhouse and managed to underperform that into a 12 year career.

Miles was good at recruiting and defense. If he could have done the same for the offense that he did the D (hire a good DC/OC and gtfo) then he could have been the GOAT at LSU. He saw himself as an offensive coach and could not keep his hands off, and we sucked on offense in big games as a result.

Coach O is a good recruiter. Can he do as well as Miles? I hope so. He also had to keep Aranda at DC and he did. Looks like we are about to get a good OC too. We did much better on offense with a TE coach and no real OC this year, rather than Miles/Cam, so I am very optimistic here.

Yes, Coach O will be an improvement over Miles, if he can hold serve in the RC/DC department, and add a good OC. Yes, one or both of the OC/DC's could leave and he would have to replace them, but this was true with Miles who was also a CEO style coach (but he was just too stupid to know it).

LOL

If LSU had a defense in 2012 they would have went undefeated with ease.

I'm not saying that he had a good defense EVERY year. I am saying that he was dependent on having a good DC to be good on defense. He recruited good defensive players and had good defenses most years. Chavis was a good DC with good players, and he hired Aranda. Malveto was a giant frickup of course.

We haven't recruited a first round draft pick at DT since 2008.

I mean overall team defense or scoring defense. Yes there are holes and it hasn't been perfect on D for the 11+ years of CLM.

I don't mean to defend Miles on here. I wanted him fired years ago. You have to be good at all three levels (RC/DC/OC) if you want to compete for championships. Miles sucked at offense. I do give him credit for doing well in recruiting MOST years and having good overall defenses MOST years.

I wanted a good offensive coach like Jimbo or Herman, but I think O can do the job with Aranda and a good OC. I am optimistic and happy Miles was fired... but was disappointed when we didn't get a top HC.

Yeah inheriting a 9-3 team with a bare recruiting class is a powerhouse and then going on to have the most successful run in school history is underperforming.
Wow

You can think anything you want, but only a clown looks at the resumes as they stand now and doesn't see downgrade.

Coach O's resume would look a lot better if he had the keys to LSU for the past 12 years, and Miles resume would have looked a lot worse if he had been at OM.

The question should be will Ed have a equal or better record than Miles next Gig.

Miles started at LSU with Sabans program and didn't have to face Saban for a couple years.

Saban's resume would look a lot worse if he never left Michigan state and came to lsu/Alabama.
What you said is completely irrelevant.
