9458 seemed to be sarcastic, as in the info provided by daLsu affirmed his previous post that a bunch of misinformation and smoke screens were about to come out to distract from the Jimbo to LSU talks. Then again I could be wrong. It really is hard to follow at this point. As long as this job has been open and last years flirtation it is hard to believe that they will hit last minute snags. Either Jimbo wants to be here at he doesn't. Seems like he would have made his mind up some time back.

I tend to agree with the 9458 and DALSU thing. Does anyone know if last years debacle has impacted this year's negotiations with Jimbo? If so, is it possible he is a smokescreen for Herman?

I honestly believe this about the situation.
Jimbo is leveraging us to become Bowden 2
Facilities, coached raises and final destination contract
LSU gives him incredible leverage for all of this
Herman is a young up and comer
Made a name at Houston and it's time
Texas is where he wants but it's unstable
LSU has Aranda and program is primed
$5.5 to $6 mil is the price
In other words, Herman is reuniting... But it might not be in BR?
Problem is if FSU doesn't want to give Fisher these powers

Like what I hear there. Herman is the guy IMO. Do you see Herman bolting on us in a few years for Texas though? I mean even if he's ours for this next season, do you think we can hold on to him if Texas comes calling with a 7 mil contract or something crazy?

Herman may also have pro aspirations, so we might get Saban 2.0. Jimbo at least has no indication that he wants to coach in the NFL.

That was always my concern. If Herman got the Texas job, I'm sure he saw what Aranda did this yr at LSU.
Texas has talent on offense for Herman to work with, they get a tough Aranda led defense and it will be trouble. Same as with LSU ofcourse
