Ferentz Update

have no idea how to judge the truthiness of this post from HawkeyeLounge.com helpfully linked in the comments of the last post, but it looks like we might get resolution on this Ferentz thing soon:
I have a decent source connected to the Michigan athletic department. He stated to me in an in e-mail this evening that Ferentz had been offered the job and this evening he accepted. The final details and announcement will come in 24-48 hours.
Disclaimers follow...
MH check your PM and I'll explain this one to you. I'm not convinced on this, but this source has credibility. I hope he's not playing me. I'll take the heat if this is wrong.
...but after the standard "this means nothing... nothing!" response, a couple posters vouch for this guy; the forthright admission of doubt makes me place a bit more faith in the information, ironically. (Obviously, this is nothing close to solid.)
Another point of confirmation (about the offer, not a potential acceptance) comes from the RCMB. One of the posters there is an editor at an Iowa newspaper; he claims that two separate media sources are telling him Ferentz has an offer.

Miles isn't going anywhere.
Kirk's going to be the new Meeeeeechigan coach.

Why in Hell would they pay $3 million for a coach who's gone 12-12 and hasn't been to a bowl in a few years. More than half of the coaches in America go bowls and this guy can't go to one.

ZeeDustin has stated that he has info saying UM will take Miles and not KF. If his info is incorrect he will willingly be banned.
or something to that effect....

I agree. Apparently there is some loyalty between Michigan's President and Lloyd Carr to Ferentz.
The Michigan nation doesn't seem too excited about their next football head coach.

Gotcha. I haven't had a chance to read the boards as much as I would have liked.
Of course all this is speculation, until something happens.
In time, we'll see.

Not at all, and that's why this is so hard to believe. Why do the hire and completely piss off your fan base?

I don't recall many of us being excited about Miles being hired.
In business, it's not what you know, it's who you know. And coaching is a fraternity.

Maybe Michigan wants to make its rivalry with Iowa stronger. I hope it is true either way, I don't think people realize we have something good in Miles. He makes gutsy calls, we lost two games in triple OT. I think improvements on defense, new coordinator maybe, would help. If our defense played like last season giving up less than 20 points game we would be undefeated. We need a good defensive coordinator who can get our defense playing better ball and decipline them enough to stop bad penalties.

I'm not down on Miles, although I think he needs to step up and take responsibility for the defense playing so poorly and the number of penalties we average per game.
LSU averages 40 pts. per game and gives up 20 pts. per game. Not bad, but certainly not what we're accustomed to the past few years, especially on defense.

Many of us didn't even know who Les Miles was. Mich fans know Ferentz...the hate with this hire will be several notches greater than LSU 05.

Well, who's going to correct the off the field issues and offensive penalties that Miles teams have become fond of?
It all shows poor coaching. Miles' teams have constantly committed penalties and shown that they don't know where to fricking lineup. It's not a coincidence that we've had extremely close games since Miles took over.

He was offered the job but has not accepted yet.

What concerns me about Miles is not having his team mentally focused on the game, which is the reason why we have mental breakdowns, numerous penalties and distractions off the field.
Before the Ole Miss game, under Les Miles tenure, LSU had not won a road game by more than 7 points.

JvTiger Ferentz & the hawkeyes went to a bowl game last year. So get your facts straight.
