Les is not happy with GC or I should say the lack of production by the Offense...

Les also realizes that the Offense was hampered by not having a quarterback..

With signing Mettenberger, Les thinks we have a QB that can work in the SEC and run an offense similar to 2007..

Pretty much my feeling on the matter. I'm guessing we'll get Gary another year and if he sucks with a legit QB again he's gone. I'm not wild about it but I've accepted it.

i think les believes in the 2011 year as a possible big year for LSU, and he doesn't want to rock the boat

however, we won the title in 2007 with a new OC

HOW-EVA EVA, miles will say this was a forced hire b/c jimbo left for FSU

Wasn't 2010 the "make or break" year?

Offensive playcalling for the most part was terrible.

And it'll be terrible again in 2011 with the defense and special teams bailing out the team.

And that's no guarantee when replacing a returner like Peterson.

I'm still not sure that the playcalling is the problem. If we had an OC who could develop a QB, then our offense might look alot different. IMO, that's the reason why Crowton always succeeds his 1st year in a new job and sucks by the 3rd year.

no excuse for the offense being this bad two years in a row. it's pretty pathetic if miles is even considering letting crowton stay on.

the only good thing that will come out of this is miles will lose a number of supporters and maybe he will be forced to take another job.

What if LSU's defense was ranked 110th out of 120?

Wouldn't Lsu fire that coach?

That's great, call me skeptical opening with
Oregon, West Virginia w/ Holgorson, and an improving Miss St. team in 3 of our first 4 games, and including a good Alabama team, and Arky probably wont drop off. Tennesse on the road will be somewhat improved. Ole Miss always gives us trouble. I honestly would be impressed if we go 9-3 with that schedule.

This is so true. However, I have a little hope since he is getting a QB in Mett that already has some college development under his belt. Maybe he, like Matt Flynn, will bring skills to the table that Crowton obviously can't teach or communicate very well. If not, we will be back in the same boat next year.

We go 8-4 next season and that gives Miles an extra year as he'll be forced to make an OC change.

Seems plausible

Especially if mett is starting as a first year SEC starter...

Id honestly rather mett start and go 8-4 than keep the Jefferson experiment going and go 8-4.

it's also plausible that with a competent QB
JJ and j-lee were both 4 star guys and after 3 years, both look as lost as their freshman years. we have ZERO QB development. if GC is still here next year, mett will struggle without real leadership and guidance that every position player needs.

how many screens did we run last year? i can think of 1 or 2. looking at our talent, and looking at our offensive production, i honestly wonder what the frick they practice all week besides the pitch-iso

You don't go after JUCO players so they can warm the bench. You look for those guys to make an immediate impact. If Mettenberger didn't think he had a chance to start, I doubt he would have signed with LSU in the first place.

I'm sure Miles won't name Mettenberger the starter anythime soon, but the job is probably his to lose.

Auburn was in the backfield all day and crowton forgets about the screen pass.

Just wait till tx am does the same and crowton doesn't adjust.

It will drive Lsu fans nuts

According to Crowton's bio, he has coached seven quarterbacks who have gone on to be selected in the NFL Draft. That's over a span of 26 years as an OC/QB/HC. I wonder how many of those 7 were only coached by Crowton for 1 year...like Matt Flynn.

Compare that to Jimbo Fisher who has coached guys like Josh Booty, Rohan Davey, Matt Mauck and JaMarcus Russell at LSU. All were drafted in the NFL over a span of 6 years. He also coached former NFL players Dameyune Craig and Stan White at Auburn.

i now its a different situation, but the philly eagles run TONS of screens- and andy reid is a pretty smart guy.

its ridiculous. slow down the pass rush with some screens/draws. its so simple but we try a bootleg instead
