The knock on Fedora is that he's a gold-plated a-hole who isn't well-liked by HS coaches in NC.
I'm kind of surprised, his brother is a well known high school coach in TX so you would think that would be a strongpoint

This seems to be picking up traction.

Fedora worked wonders at USM but he did a dick move on the way out. He knew he was leaving and it was a weird deal where they finished top of CUSA but got the shaft by the Liberty bowl and didn't get to go to what is the usual destination. Fedora picked the bowl in Hawaii against the wishes of all the parents of the players because they couldn't afford to go. They wanted something closer. According to sources he wanted to give his staff a vacation before UNC because he knew it was getting ready to be crazy hard work taking the reigns of a rebuild. Plus he quit recruiting at USM because he knew it was his last season at USM.

This absolutely sounds mostly plausible, but a bowl choice is never the coach's decision to make alone. The AD is his boss.
Fedora is obviously a very good coach. But he's also a hard-core meathead. I think our AD probably is as well; if they pair up at Mizzou they might not last long.
Don't forget, Bowtie Loftin hired our AD and he just got shite-canned because the deans hated him.

Keep in mind USM was doing everything they could to keep him at the time. He had them believing he was staying. They let him pick the bowl.

Makes sense. If this is true, he is a straight-up a-hole.

If he wins he can be the biggest a-hole in the world.

In his defense, the local high schools have bigger athletic budgets than USM and there was turnover at the President of USM. They did nothing substantial to reward him with investments in the program and while his salary was decent, his staffers was shite. He did what he did for his people like what he is doing now. He takes care of his own. Along the way he puts up the Ws for the school. He got USM within sniffing distance of a playoff birth, like UNC. Schools like USM & UNC should just enjoy the ride.

Fedora has been my #2 after Herman. I think he makes sense for a couple reasons. Money and spotlight. This guy wants a big job, a true blue blood job, if he can succeed at Mizzou he will get it without question. The guy has SEC experience at Florida, he has HC experience in the P5 conferences, and he's been in big games, especially if we count this weekends game.
Also, reading that UNC board is hilarious, those guys act like they are a football school that is paying their coach 4-5 mil when they are really paying him barely 2.

To be fair, Mizzou fans have been acting like they are football school as well. If Fedora wants a pay day, He should stay another year at UNC and wait for something like Texas to open up.

No he isn't. Kilgore says he is not in the mix. It was all just a rumor.

Outside of Odom and Fedora (and Dykes), who else is being considered?

You realize like half of the coaches in college are waiting for "texas to open up"?

Bobo was interviewed, Rhule could still be in the discussion even though Temple is saying no, heard rumors of Calhoun as well.
Most of these guys don't even seem like viable candidates from an SEC perspective. Rhule is a NE guy. Bobo has barely gotten his feet wet at CSU. Calhoun is an Air Force grad and runs a triple option offense.
Realistically, it's either Fedora or Odom at this point.
Dark horse is Gary Patterson.

Texas is in a tough spot...I realize that they beat OU, but that was a fluke this year.
Their schedule contains four teams that likely will beat them every year for the foreseeable future (OU, OSU, Baylor and TCU), plus Tech appears to be on an upswing.
Looking at UT's schedule next year (includes games against Notre Dame and at Cal), doubtful that Strong survives...
