I understand that, my point is there's a lot of qualified guys "waiting" for Texas to open up. The truth is I doubt any of them are betting their future on a job they are not a shoo in to get. Who even knows if they would hire Herman or Fedora. You'd have to be insane to pass up a $4 million a year job on the possible chance to coach at Texas "eventually".

are their any legs to this or just wishful thinking?
It's a strange name that keeps popping up. I think it's possible Patterson isn't happy with the current 10 team Big 12 situation and the lack of Championship game. He made the same as Gary Pinkel, so it's not about money.
Maybe he's tired of being at a private college? No idea.
It's a name that surfaces randomly. I'd put him as an extremely unlikely candidate.

Fedora probably covets the A&M job...and Herman seems like a shoe-in for the UT job given his prior time there and his success at OSU and Houston...this assumes his team wins next year.

Rumor with Gary Patterson is money for assistants. Sounds like a smokescreen to get them all raises.

But mizzou is a huge political risk. You'll have to be down with "the cause" and forced to support major contraversial stances just to not look like a racist to recruits. Pinkel retired for that reason.
What? Pinkel backed his players one time, I don't see how that means Mizzou is now some political hotseat of a program.

Exactly, the only people still talking about an isolated incident are people who have invested interests against Mizzou.
