I’m pretty sure he understands the magnitude of the DC hire. It’s his arse on the line. It’s a little premature to say who’ll be good and who won’t. Let next season unfold to be the judge of that. If he messes it up I’m sure he understands he’ll be out the door.

I don't think he's all that worried. He has a fat bank account, an undefeated national championship and a young piece of arse.

If that’s the case then he could hire Bill Belicheck as his DC and we’d still be terrible so why are you sweating this hire so much?

I'm not sweating the hire at all. I'm just saying he's pretty much accomplished everything he wanted to at LSU and he probably doesn't give a shite if it ends in a couple seasons or not.

Well then, in your opinion, it’s over for him then. This hire doesn’t matter at all if the head coach has that attitude.

Because many of the LSU fans on here are demanding a hire soon. Hoping not get a Pelini 2.0 as the next DC. Leave Ed Orgeron alone! Let him do his job. Maybe it will turn out to be a good hire.

And this is where many of LSU fans are idiots.

In no way does a hire need to happen “soon”.

Ed and Woodward have plenty of time to vet and interview coaches before time becomes an issue. There is absolutely zero reason to rush a hire just because right now.

Let them seek out recommendations, let them vet interest, let them hold interviews and let them make the right decision.

Then if the hire fails, and only if the hire fails, hold their fricking feet to the fire then.

Do y’all really think “he’ll be out the door” with a $20MM buy out?

Well we have NSD and spring practice coming up. Would like to have the guy prior to NSD. Otherwise I agree there shouldn't be a rush

We don’t have any defensive targets left on the board.

As long as a coach is in place before spring training we’re good

You're naïve if you don't think there's a part of him that's tired of the pressures and nonsense that comes along with a major program like LSU. Becoming extremely rich and having a national championship ring makes it a lot easier to walk away from the nonsense if it gets too thick. So keep laughing.

That and saying he doesn't care if he gets fired are two different things. I am sure all coaches get tired of it from time to time. I doubt many of them just want to quit and collect money. Most coaches, even if they get fired and a big buyout, end up back in coaching in a year or so after they're fired.

He has known the magnitude of every hire with his tenure at LSU. Didn't prevent him from striking out on everyone except Brady.

And they have, or at least should have, been doing this for at least a month now and in reality longer than that.

Pelini was fired over a month ago and the decision to fire him was likely made a month prior to that. So the identifying and vetting process should have been done a long time ago.

No one was saying they had to make a hire 2 days after Pelini was gone or even 2 weeks. But by now, they have had more than enough time to do so. Entire staffs have been assembled in way less time it has taken to make this hire. Hell, S. Carolina has practically hired 2 staffs in less time.

So what? Stop implying it is a race because it isn't.

According to who? You. What makes you so qualified? Go ahead, list your qualifications.

But by now,

But by now, he had to first wait until after the bowl game to interview Marcus Freeman and then he had to wait until after the Superbowl or until the Saints lost in the playoffs and in which they did.

Meanwhile, it has been less than a week since they found out that Ryan Nielsen wasn't able to take the job

they have had more than enough time to do so.

Really? According to who? You, a mentally handicapped loon.

Entire staffs have been assembled in way less time it has taken to make this hire.

Really? Okay, when and then let's see the success or lack there of, of those staffs.

Hell, S. Carolina has practically hired 2 staffs in less time.

There you go, S. Carolina is a perpetual failure and just like you.

So according to you, Ed O won a natty with the greatest college football team ever in history purely by luck.

Meanwhile, what makes you so qualified to make this assessment?

By looking at his body of work his entire career including his tenure at LSU. Tons of frick ups on hires here. Complete failure at Ole Miss. USC passed him up for a reason. Yeah. Even HCs get lucky for NCs see Chiz who ended his career at Auburn.
