Ed O and lazy hiring practices

Let’s review what we know to be fact:
-Assumed Lane Kiffin would follow him to LSU
-Hired Matt Canada without meeting face to face
-Promoted Steve Ensminger from within
-Hired Bill Johnson because he was his old friends at Northwestern
-Hired Russ Callaway after speaking to him on the phone
-Only considered Bo Pelini when hiring a DC last year
Bad form for a guy who is considered a strong recruiter

Yes! This guy hired the right assembly of coaches to form the greatest college offense ever. Let’s roast him!

It doesn’t have to be. We can discuss his tendency to make lazy hires and what that means for the future while also discussing a hopefully more thorough and inspires hiring process this cycle.
Ok?
Ok?

The amount of crazy that’s going to be posted the next few days is going to be at an all time high. Everyone wants to know the scoop and will be hanging out here posting dumb shite and stuff they find to be funny in their own minds.

I don’t think lazy practices, but if you want to say he is too influenced by Pete Carroll’s advice than maybe that.

Ensminger was a good hire
Bill Johnson was hired in August after Meatball had a freak accident. He was a good hire under the circumstances. It was only temporary.
Russ Calloway was hired as an analyst.
No one knows how many DC’s were considered.
Canada was a bad hire.
Thread is shite.

It was fine but now he’s being “reassigned” 2 years later

Why was he brought back in 2020? We have a lot of young DL that could use a coach that’s going to be with them as they grow.

After a phone call, per Ponamsky.

Ed said only Pelini was considered

False

Ensminger did a great job considering the young talent he had to work with. Our offense wasn't the problem!

And then was made full time last offseason.

Where does this little part fit in?
quote:
LSU began the year ranked sixth in the preseason AP Poll, and were projected to finish in second in the SEC West behind Alabama. The Tigers secured an undefeated regular season that included wins over top-ten-ranked teams Texas, Florida, Auburn, and Alabama. In the SEC Championship Game, LSU defeated Georgia to win their first conference title since 2011. LSU was ranked No. 1 in the final College Football Playoff rankings of the season, earning them a spot in the national semi-final game to be played at the Peach Bowl. They dominated fourth-ranked Oklahoma in that game, 63–28, to advance to the CFP Championship Game. There, they defeated the defending national champions Clemson, 42–25, to secure LSU's fourth claimed national title in school history, the second undefeated champion in the CFP era, and the second 15–0 season among any team in the modern era. Owing to their dominant performance against a historically difficult schedule, several pundits have called the team the greatest in college football history.[1][2][3]
LSU's record-setting offense was led by senior quarterback Joe Burrow, who won the Heisman Trophy by the largest margin in the history of the award, and broke several NCAA FBS records, including most touchdown passes (60), and highest passer rating (202.0). He was accompanied on offense by 1,400-yard running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and two 1,500-yard receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson, the former winning the Biletnikoff Award as the best wide receiver in the country. The Tigers' offensive line won the Joe Moore Award as the nation's best offensive line unit. LSU's defense was anchored by two All-American defensive backs in Jim Thorpe Award winner Grant Delpit and true freshman Derek Stingley Jr. Linebacker Jacob Phillips led the SEC in tackles. Head coach Ed Orgeron was awarded several national Coach of the Year honors.

Besides him not being 35, what has Bill Johnson done to get criticism?
We don’t know the “behind the scenes” negotiations. Perhaps Orgeron knew he could get Bo Davis in a year and just need Johnson for one more season.
Perhaps Johnson is a lot better than fans know? He has more NFL experience than any coach at LSU.

From outside the staff he inherited, he literally only hired Brady who was worth a shite.
Canada fail
Pelini fail
Bush fail (one safety worth a shite in his time here and Delpit regressed)
Cregg fail
Linehan fail
Meatball fail
Johnson fail
Jenkins fail
Again name one guy he hired that improved his unit. Please don’t say Cregg because he inherited an experienced line or at least guys with significant experience and has since destroyed the depth and talent on the line with atrocious recruiting.
Other than Brady and pushing E to serve as OC despite his preference against the job, O’s hires have been an abject failure.
I’m expecting more of the same this offseason so maybe he will bring us to his Ole Miss level after all.
