Considered to be competitive but never considered the favorite to win tells me all I need to know. Hey guys, let’s settle for the guy who is never favored to win. He’s only expected to lose closes games to elite teams never expected to get over the hump. Let’s pay him $13 million a year.
You seem level headed and rational.
lol just joking

Considering Drink’s last two teams have equal or better talent than LSU’s last two rosters I’d say similar

I think "The Egg" has been scrambled.

I’m just using your hypotheticals against you. Nobody wants Drink for the amount of money he will demand to leave Mizzou

I’m not sure you know what hypothetical means. I asked you direct questions that have traceable answers.
There may be 1-2 teams a year that are favored against the team’s he generally losses too. But You think it’s a red flag that Missouri isn’t favored to beat UGA or Bama or hendon hooker Tennessee

His teams have been blown out by Aggie two years in a row. He lost to Vandy this year as well. You seem to think he only loses to Bama and Georgia type teams

No, he also has 5 wives

He's not remotely like Les Miles. Just because he's quirky doesn't mean he's Les quirky. Les was very likable and had tons of charisma. This guy has absolutely zero charisma. Big difference in "quirky". Players liked playing for Miles and that's why he was such an elite recruiter. For the most part in his time at LSU he got his guys motivated to play in games competitively until the game passed him by.
I would take anyone outside Drink. In fact - if LSU seriously was considering him - I'd rather them take a bigger risk at a younger guy. I'd take a risk with someone like Golesh or even slide an LSU alma mater guy in there to see what he can do. That's not my first choice but I would put them ahead of Drink. You know what you're getting from him and it's not winning anything meaningful in the SEC.
Drink should be considered a tier 3 guy down a list with guys like Golesh. We don't need more 8-4 seasons...we need someone who can get us over the hump with the massive resources thrown on their lap. There's no more doormat programs in the SEC so spare me the Missouri doesn't have LSU resources. That may be true in a sense, but every SEC program is spending now. All he has done at Missouri is lose the big game just like Big Game Brian.

A@M is the best team in the SEC right now and Vandy was favored to beat Missouri. This isn’t some knock on them. Drinkwitz is the only candidate being held to these weird standards
Posted on 11/16/25 at 11:53 am to friendlyobservation
Exactly Drink is just a poor man’s Dabo
Posted on 11/16/25 at 11:54 am to Lester Earl
We don’t want some knock off version of Dabo who can’t beat top teams. He’s not worth the amount of money they would have to pay him.
Posted on 11/16/25 at 11:58 am to TigahTX
This is what I'm saying at worst take a bigger risk at a possible homerun and then you dump more resources into roster or coordinators, etc.
Then you seal him up to a huge money deal if he's the homerun you think. You're getting average with Drink. Holding to the standard Orgeron and Miles could win - anyone can win no longer applies in NIL era. It's way more competitive now across the entire country especially the SEC. You need top tier coaching with the rosters.

A significant percentage of people who have sustained interactions with Kiffin come away with the lasting impression that he’s a huge piece of shite, yeah
But he is 100% flavor of the month on here and they will not hear otherwise

I'm not even all in on Kiffin myself. I don't even think he's worth what he will command. This entire coaching search sucks arse. It was the worst time to fire a coach. I feel like LSU is going to be in the same position 4 years from now.
Really need to lock the NIL infrastructure down and maybe look at NFL ranks for a coach. Which I realize now is unlikely due to how bigger the risk is with how much that has changed in NCAA ball. College coaches just ain't it right now when looking at sexy names.

Exactly. Drink isn’t the guy. People act like he hasn’t had loaded rosters at Mizzou the last three seasons. He is what he is

80% gets you run off at LSU.

I’ve done more homework than you Lester. Anybody who would settle for Eli clearly doesn’t know ball. My homework tells me Drink has a a win percentage below 70% and has lost majority of his games when playing teams with equal or better talent lmao
Let me know what coach is available where this doesn’t hold true

Yeah you want guys that get beat by awful Kentucky teams or service academies as double digit favorites

I would absolutely chose either one over Drink
