I feel like if Napier was coaching outside Louisiana he would not even be considered a candidate here. I have nothing against Napier I'm just not excited about him

So South Carolina and Auburn wasn’t good enough?

People mentioning this need to think. He never interviewed there. His agent put it out they wanted him but he didn’t think those jobs were good enough.

The truth could just be that they wanted to interview and he said no because he didn’t think he’d get the job…

If Sexton is his agent, he’s gotten interest from some pretty big people. I promise you.

This doesn't mean anything. Where's your proof?

The USC talk is interesting.

“ Neuheisel, the former UCLA, Washington and Colorado coach, thinks that USC athletic director Mike Bohn should make a call to Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly. ”

More Brian Kelly talk.

You guys have lost it.

What do you want? Do you want Auburn to come out and say yes we tried to hire Billy Napier? It’s not going to happen. Per Alleva, lsu never went after Jimbo.

Do you think Woodward is going to hire a guy because of an article that says he was offered by Auburn? You really think the people making the decisions do not know who he was offered by? Are you guys serious right now?

Either y’all are trolling, or maybe you should take a break from the board lol. This is getting insane.

Anyone with an IQ above potato knows that Napier didn't turn down Auburn.

He turned it down based on their terms is the report. And you can say Auburn turned him down based on Napiers terms. But yes, they did try to hire him.

They never gave him an interview so they didn't try very hard.

I will no longer be pursuing the head coaching job at the University of Southern California.

I just turned down the USC job. See how easy it was?

Well damn. I guess he should do that with USC too. Or maybe there are ways that we can confirm these things? That they’re investigated?

So many links have been posted to stories on Napier turning down Auburn, USCe, and Mississippi State on this board that I don’t have the energy to go pull them again.

He was on Baylor’s shortlist when Aranda was hired. He’s buzzing around VT and USC a bit. None of this means anything in terms of those jobs or this job — except for that the narrative that no one outside of LA knows who Billy Napier is... is completely made up in the heads of... a few people who have never been outside of LA.

You realize that you asking us to believe that Billy turned down a five-year contract making $25 million for a five year contract making $10 million and the opportunity to play in one of the most competitive conferences in college football to play in one of the worst college football conferences around..

I know Lafayette is a really nice place to live and I know that ULL has a great college football history, but come on. lol

If he actually had an offer on the table waiting for his signature from Auburn and he turned it down, there’s something wrong with him.

I agree with all of this but, if I recall, they told him he wouldn’t have full control on hiring his staff and that is something he really wants. I think he’s just really smart and knows that if he leaves for auburn and can’t hire and run the program like he wants, then he fails and his coaching reputation is ruined. A lot more to think about than just a 25m contract. He’s got plenty years of coaching left if he does it the right way.

See the post below yours.

Money isn’t everything to Napier. He’s still driving his 2016 truck. He wants to have the right job with full control of his staff and facilities and none of those programs were willing to give it. Once he hears that it’s a turn off and the phone stops being picked up.
