Wondering if Kiffin is obliged to wait until the NC game, if they make it, before declaring his intentions for 17-18 season?

No. Many asst coaches accept other positions and are allowed to wait until playoff run is completed to report

That's usually when they are getting a promotion, not making a lateral move within the division. It isn't guaranteed Saban would even want him around.

Kirby took a promotion to HC at his alma mater.

If Kiffin is moving on to a HC job somewhere, then I think Saban would let him stay.

If he's making a lateral move to a division opponent? Not so much.

Are we glad to get an OC who's been an integral part of multiple national championships?? You bet! It's a grand slam brother

Bad comparison by me, but he doesn't need to wait to say what he wants to do next year. His contract is over in February. If Saban and co decide to say bye, that's on them.

We were fine with our head coach doing it for a few years. Wouldn't be anything new.

Kirby had to wait until after the title game. I don't see why Kiffin wouldn't have to as well.

I thought it was in his contract to coach through the title game. Same thing with Kiffin's contract.

I imagine Saban won't want him to if he knows he's leaving.
