Miles may have a DC picked before the bowl game, but he is too classy to not let our current coaches earn their post season bonuses
I think this is it more than anything. He is hoping Peveto gets the NWLA job, saving his face, then bonus out the rest of the crew. Very often someone's greatest strength is also their greatest weakness and we saw that this year with Les. He is a players coach and a loyal boss-paid huge dividends when his belief in his team turned into all those successful conversions and risky calls turned into a NC in 2007. This year, when he really needed to kick some arse, it was not in his cloth. He needs a good, in your face Bo Pelini right hand to take care of that for him, and let him do what he does best.

That would be stupid.
I'm sure Miles could go to the powers that be and secure the bonus if needed.

Bonuses...are you kidding me
Never knew there were bonuses for bad performances...not in my company

How class is it to allow players to lose because they are poorly coached?

the new DC would not need to install an entire new scheme. they would just need to have a game plan for GT
and it's not like the actual gameplan for GT is that difficult. it's mostly assignment football + tackling
GT prolly has about a 50 play playbook (if not less)

Two things we do poorly. I don't expect a new DC to change that in 3 weeks.

but it's not like the DC would have to implement an entire playbook in to face GT
debating whether the DC could fix the problems is another thing altogether

the main thing a new DC could do was begin to put in a little of their D before the spring. Who gives a frick about the chikfila bowl. But yeah Miles' hard-on for letting Bradley Dale Peveto milk as much undeserved money out of LSU will probably override this.
