Do recruiting nerds care more about class rankings than wins?

No one will deny that recruiting is critical. But as proven the last few years, just getting some highly ranked 5 stars who turn out to be baby back bitches doesn't do a damn thing in the long run.

Wisconsin and their 3-star D is almost always as good and sometimes even better than LSU's star-studded D.

I really think some of the pushback on Aranda and Campbell is by guys who follow recruiting day to day and get all wrapped up in the drama of these dipshit teenagers.

It's kind of like the draft nerds in the NFL that get all butthurt when the player they "scouted" gets passed over.

Get over it dorks. A guy like Aranda with some smart 4-stars will kick the ever living shite out of a neanderthal like O and his weak arse starts, who probably will already be opted out by mid-seasons anyway.

Yes.

These are the same guys who created the annual tradition under Miles of freaking out at the possibility of "losing this class" if Miles was fired.

They're a big reason why we were stuck with that [edited for content] for so long.

I think the more proven thing over the last few years is how important quality coaching is. Which you seem to allude to, so I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at.

Yeah, it's crazy that people are so worried about a single recruiting class.

WGAF? Get the right coach and you'll be fine. Hiring some moron like O or keeping an idiot like Miles to get more underachieving 5-stars doesn't do shite in the long run.

Yes they do. This is a phenomenon I have observed for 30 plus years.

It's weird. To them, recruiting is a sport on its own.

This is true and then they play an Ohio St or someone and get destroyed. Even Aranda at Wiscy was a beast until they had to play Ohio St.

Recruiting very much matters. Look at your top 3 teams every single season and their recruiting rankings. You better believe recruiting at an elite level is important. It's why #4 always gets their arse kicked come playoffs.

I'm not sure what you have against wanting elite recruiting.

It's not about being nerds. I remember Josh Pate talking about the importance of recruiting. I wouldn't consider him a stat nerd.

I agree with this.

I don't believe this was the OP's point at all though.

The best coach absolutely trumps one recruiting class. The class is solid for the most part anyways.
