Do most Athletic Director's use a search firm when they hire a new coach? Is Dave Hart using one?

Hart specifically said in his press conference the Sun after firing Dooley that he would not be using a search firm....

now that he's been turned down a bunch, his opinion may change...

A lot of them use them for coaches still coaching. They work as a buffer to gauge interest, before interviewing as to not step on any toes or to be sexton'd

With the success of that hire, it's amazing he didn't use one this time around.

It would be hard for Stoops to be a worse hire than Billy Clyde. I don't even think Joker was that bad, because Joker didn't seem like an awful human being.
