Gus has shown he can beat Bama and anyone else in the country. He has the skins to prove it.

Suffice it to say the chances are pretty good that Ensminger will effectively instruct our highly skilled QBs and play poor-man's Kiffin fairly well.

Sullivan will get significantly more out of our receivers in route running, form/technique and blocking.

The new oline coach will be as good or better than what we've had, and with more/better talent, we'll improve there, as well.

Don't be surprised if this works better than expected on offense. On defense? Forget about it...they'll be absolute savages.

We'll come out and surprise Miami, compete for the West. But this isn't a long-term fix, by any stretch.

Orgeron needs to get his damn, fkg act together and stop with the band aid fixes. This was a panicked, unprofessional and mediocre response to the critical, coordinator-hire element of his "model".

Past is prologue: this does not bode well for him.

IMO:
The problem with the whole situation is that everybody involved seems to operate inside an emotional box except for Aranda, and I have no idea how involved Aranda is. O and Alleva seem to react emotionally to adversity and make hasty decisions.

A guy like Ed O (who I personally think is a good man, good recruiting coordinator and good D-line coach) doesn't seem to understand forward thinking or expanding his ideas. He seems to only understands what's in front of HIM... In terms of hiring coaches he pays attention to things like how does this coach make ME feel or look, and not what's the deep effect and long term results expected from this coach. He believes more in the power of emotion and feelings than the facts and figures. He views the Canada debacle as a cautionary tale of avoiding an outside/different thinker. Canada may have been a total d-bag, and deserved to get fired, but he hired him on emotion after Kiffin was not available because he promised to bring in the best. Canada had the best numbers last year, but was obviously not properly vetted. It now costs LSU a fortune to have him not coach. Now Coach O is primed to hire a coach from within the system because they "speak the same language."

If they continue to function this way, it will result in most competently run programs zooming past them. Not to mention the elite programs getting out of range for even a chance at an upset or competitive game.

I was just thinking of that chant. I live out of state. When a mass of people actually get angry enough to politically agitate about this thing, they should chant that outside the AD's and president's offices.

"Hey, hey, ho, ho, King, Joe and O gotta go."
"Hey, hey, ho, ho, King, Joe and O gotta go."

Ensminger and Sullivan were there last year and would have already have been having this effect. What you are arguing is that Canada was somehow getting in the way of this and we have a great case of addition by subtraction.

I don't agree. This is being overly optimistic.

We both know that neither man had direct contact with his current charges.

What limited contact they did have offers no measure of how they will do with full time responsibility.

They are both veteran coaches, who will not slack off or take short cuts.

There's a difference between Malzhan and Special Ed though. One is a decent coach, one is a weird sounding Sesame Street character.
