ESPN just described LSU agreement with Herman as a deal in place, not signed.

If it's not signed, it's not truly a deal in place. A deal in place - not signed, only means the parties have reached an agreement in principle. The obvious concern is a deal in place can be used as leverage to get a better deal with another team.

While it's legal to do this, it does not speak much for someone's character to lead someone on like this.

Herman seems like a stand up guy. Hopefully if the deal isn't signed, it's truly a case where a handshake deal is in place with the terms agreed upon that just needs to be papered. It sounds good, but I will be nervous until it's a signed deal.

As we've recently learned, it isn't over even after the press conference announcing the new man.

A deal not signed is not a deal.

Actual contracts aren't signed until weeks later.

It will blow up. This is South Louisiana just desserts. I've never seen so much BS floated as sources.

Which leads one to ask...why not sign? People will have solid answers as to why not and they likely point at ways for this to not be a good thing.

Either way I am jacked at the thought of Herman being our HC

Dude. It's done and they don't want it public until he has no more obligations. Orangebloods spoke to a guy that will be on his staff here.

I don't think so. But that was Ketchums source. An assistant that expects to work with him here.

And this is what Alleva needs to do.

"LSU cannot be jerked around here, Sexton. We need the deal signed immediately after the UH game Friday. We will not wait around for the Texas-TCU game to be played."

Les didn't sign anything for over 6 months. It's a state job so we have to advertise for 3 months before we fill it. I don't know how that works with O being the interim coach. If you fired Les tomorrow it would be 3 months before you could make the official offer then the BOS has to approve

Seems like it.

Herman wanted Texas to wake up and make an offer. What better way to do that than tease LSU, give an unofficial confirmation that you'll sign, and then have your agent leak it out into the public sphere?
