Why are we not considering this?

I think we all truly believe that this guy is the next big thing in coaching. Why would we ever even consider letting him leave. Jimbo and Dabo had no head coaching experience prior to getting their jobs. I don't want to look back 5 years from now and say how in the frick did we let this guy leave our program.

If anyone has the mind, X's and O'x, and demeanor that we are looking for its Dave Aranda.

Thoughts?

Because he's never been a HC. Its a totally different role.

But I'd much rather him than a lot of other candidates being thrown around, especially Ed Orgeron. He should be at the top of that 2nd tier IMO.

This hasn't been talked about ever...

You don't give someone with zero HC experience this job. He may be the next Bob Stoops or Bo Pelini.

Or keep him on as DC, and focus on finding someone who will generate offense.

1) Herman
2) Fisher
3) Aranda

If the guy can coach he can coach. There might be some learning curves, but if ANYONE has the mind, upside, and potential its Dave Aranda.

No. Absolutely not. He's a strange guy from most reports, and he doesn't appear to be lighting up the recruiting trail from his current position.

FSU did it with a guy that was Head Coach in Waiting and had spent time under Nick Saban and Bobby Bowden. And was known as an elite recruiter.

A little different IMO.

Clemson got fricking lucky. Dabo is a fluke.

And Saban isn't weird?

and i think these are the best comparisons. i wouldnt bring in an outside DC for his first HC job here, but the transition with Aranda would be as smooth as it possibly could be for a first time HC.

Look I am saying he should be in serious consideration.

No Herman, No Jimbo, then I think you pull the trigger on Aranda.

I also think PJ Fleck should get some consideration. Guy is a great coach.

He's definitely worth an interview and someone to keep a good relationship with for down the road. But not the answer right now. Maybe after he and herman roll off a few nc' for us and herman goes to nfl.

I could see Aranda fitting perfectly in the NFL as a DC as well.

Aranda should be the guy because if the first two options fail you at least know your defense is going to be superb.

I really will be upset if Aranda doesn't get the job if fisher or Herman are out.

I don't care if he has 0 head coaching experience, he has proved to be an innovator on one side of the ball. With acumen like he has shown, I would love to see what kind of staff he would surround himself with.
