Crowton to groom Gonzo as OC

This is just a toss in the dark. With Crowton's experience and age, this seems like Miles targeting a bright and successful young offensive coach to bring in and get groomed under Crowton, working as the passing-game planner along with his WR coaching duties. From Crowton's perspective, he probably was very involved with selecting this hire. From Gonzo's perspective, this wasn't happening at Florida, and made the move to LSU to facilitate his career.

This sounds right. I think Les has told GC that 2010 is his audition for a job somewhere else. The wildcard would be if GC gets this thing turned around and figures out how to use our stable of athletes.

You may be right, but I have trouble believing this. Stakes are too high anymore for the HC to say something like that. IF GC is staying then Miles believes he can help the team win now. If not, GC is gone. Win now has taken over as the #1 factor, not let's see if you can work this out down the raod.

Posted this on another thread but it was stated that Gonzales will have more authority over planning and game day authority. I have no idea how that relates to him and Crowton as far as who is doing what on the offense.

Crowton to groom Gonzo take one:
Crow: Ok always option to the short side.
Gonz: Gotcha!
Crow: When you have a new QB who is more relaxed in the pro set use the spread.
Gonz: Genius!
Crow: When desiging pass plays for the new QB, make sure you send everyone long and leave noone short for him to drop the ball off to.
Gonz: Wow I never would have thoght of that!

yea that sounds right...Crowton was told he'd be fired after next season if things don't get better, and oh by the way train this guy to be your replacement for when we do fire you. Makes perfect fricking sense

does history repeat itself.....
if you guys remember, the two-headed DC monsters were allowed to get a new position before Miles announce their departure.
can't say, I do not know, but could Miles be buying time for Crowton to get another position ?
or just playing Mr. Nice Guy and allowing him to stay be re-enforcing the coaching team around Crowton ???
