just caught this gem in the article:
third year
quote:
Rumors circulated Wednesday that the third-year LSU coordinator was on his way out. A report on WWL.com quoted a reporter from Gannett Louisiana saying “"I'm telling you that Gary Crowton is not going to be the offensive coordinator at LSU next season. He and Les have had a parting of the ways and Gary is looking for another job."
third year

Maybe he thinks a Terp is a type of tiger

Haha yeah. I'm hoping he knows by now that the university of maryland is a terrapin not a tiger.

He can give all the silly quotes he wants to, his time at LSU is over. It is just a matter of him finding another job or retiring soon.

So WWL is trying to emulate ESPN

That's all he can say, even if he knows the hammer is coming. I can't imagine him telling the truth if the truth involves finding a job before he gets fired.

That is some stellar reporting. A reporter repeats something that they read from someone who heard something.

There seems to be a huge disconnect between Miles and Crowton (and I presume the rest of the staff). Crowton didn't find out until last night the Miles was staying? And why would GC text Les saying that he'd be at the meeting. If Les calls a meeting, he doesn't need your effing RSVP. You just show up.
And why would Crowton say he plans to be a Tiger next season, and in the same breath admit that he's interview with MD?

So in other words, if I don't get employed somewhere else, LSU is going to have to fire me because I want my money. In that case, Miles will not fire Crowton, so they better have other job interviews lined up.

Miles probably didn't tell Crowton in the hopes that Crowton would figure the next hc wouldn't keep him and get motivated to find something. Looks like it almost worked.

Maryland called Crowton. Crowton told or asked Les about going for an interview. Thus, Maryland never, technically, spoke with Miles.
No head coach is really keeping an assistant, especially the offensive coordinator, if he is interviewing for a job at another school.
Just sayin'

So he has the want to stay
yes, but the need is just not there.
To me, this is basically a guarantee that he is gone. Why else would he interview somewhere a thousand miles away, for less money, and a worse program, to do the same job???
Miles is just giving him a chance to get out unashamed, just like he did with the dual DC situation a couple years back.
