Crappy way for Texas to handle this

I know the loyalty thing is gone in the coaching profession on both sides.....but this is a really poor way to push Mack out of the door.....if he really agreed to resign at the end of the week, what in the hell are 2 top level UT officials doing releasing this to a fan board today......let the man go out with some dignity.

Regardless of what a team does in this situation, someone will consider it crappy.

Agreed.

Given that Mack should have (and refused to) retire a few years ago, I think his ego might allow this to get ugly.

We've read time and again that it's his belief that he wants and believes he needs to be the one to "fix" Texas and its problems. At a certain point, if his ego won't allow him to resign, UT has to cut bait and endure the blowback. The fallout would probably be media-induced, given that the fans are pretty much done with him.
