That makes zero sense. There is no way more than what Bama has done. It ain't possible.

From 92-99, Bama won the west 5 out of 8 times, as well as a National Title, and multiple SEC titles

i said before saban got to Bama they were mediocre for a decade or more. what did y'all do from 96-2006?

i didn't start following college ball until 2000 so i honestly don't know

Texas is FAR more national a brand than Bama. And it isn't close.

Completely false. I live in Maryland and Bama is by far the most popular college sports team that isn't from the local area. Texas might be more popular in the southwest but Bama is a bigger brand nationally.

No, just using the historical data that is available to gauge the possibility of future outcomes.

which is stupid when you realize it would make you think Minnesota, Georgia Tech, Arkansas or Ole Miss were better jobs than FSU, Miami, and Florida in 1980

I'm just saying. Further more, the evidence that LSU fans have submitted arguing that Texas is better is very lacking. Merchandise sales, NFL players from the state, nicer lakes and other arbitrary variables have nothing to do with success of a program. The fact that all of these things have existed far before Saban was even at Bama and Texas couldn't dominate is far more telling. Saban and Bama are a perfect storm, simply put.

Well the company that has that little official collegiate seal says Texas is more.

That's a bit more official than your eyeball test

of course every hire bama made from stalling to saban would tend to prove that it is both the coach and the program. with the coach being the most important piece. and it doesn't take your example of rick patino or your implied example of nick saban to prove that. good coaches are good wherever they go.

Again, you haven't added anything tangible of why Saban couldn't be as successful at Texas. All you say is Bama is the best EVAR!!!

The weak conference was a good reason of why TX could be easier. I think top players are drawn to the SEC so there's an argument against TX.

Capiche?

Saban could go to the following programs and dominate college football (no order whatsoever)

1. LSU
2. Texas
3. Oklahoma
4. USC
5. Ohio State
6. Michigan
7. Florida
8. Florida State
9. UGA
10. Notre Dame
11. Alabama
12. Oregon

College programs he could go to and probably dominate

Clemson
UCLA
Washington
Penn State
Okie Lite
Nebraska
Tennessee
Auburn
Miami
Michigan State

Now this is a stupid statement simply because 2 of the latter mentioned teams had to be built from the ground up, had no national presence and little stability. Also, HS laid out the blue print of the only way to be successful, recruit the inner city black kid and recruit lots of them. This strategy change the landscape of CFB. Secondly, none of the aforementioned teams have any historical sustained success either.

Patino was great at Kentucky, he is good at Louisville. That is the difference.

The Longhorns probably have more "fans" because Texas is a humongous state that is much bigger than Alabama. It doesn't mean they're bigger nationally. I bet most of the Texas fanbase is from the southwest and bordering states like Louisiana and Arkansas. Meanwhile, Bama has a ton of fans throughout the country. Texas isn't that big of a deal nationally.

bama has just recently become a national brand (like LSU). they're the new USC and have a bandwagon

Texas has been one for a long time. They're like Michigan. Tons of grads from an elite school that go all over the country

and this has nothing to do with me being butt hurt. i've been making this same argument regarding all SEC teams not named Florida for a decade on this site

until 2006 the SEC was seen as a backwater conference nationally. if you don't believe me, look at the 2003 and 2004 BCS controversies

That's really ignorant dude. Why would you say that? They have fans and alumni all over the country.

Actual $ sales prove Texas is #1. Nothing wrong with being #2 dude, we're talking about merchandise sales.
