Feldman straight up said he was "hearing that is not gonna happen" in regards to Riley a week and a half ago.
Maybe it was bad information, or an intentional leak to slow the Riley rumor train, but he wasn't guessing. Somebody he trusts told him that.

Just keep updating this thread with this type of info and bumping it because these are probably the most realistic clues we have. Not sure it brings us closer to the answer who but I think it's a strong indicator that the deal is actually done. Whoever it is.

I will try. Like I said, I have no sources, just trying to piece together the only credible info we have gotten, and I refuse to believe we “whiffed” until an announcement is made

I agree with OP. I stated yesterday that Woody is to clean for all this Riley smoke and made reference to Woody’s comment “everybody will love the hire” I then started it’s a Bigger hire than Riley and got downvotes galore. My hunch is Sean Peyton/Urban Meyer type hire.

I'm in the same boat. I was told I am in denial, but I'm not even taking Riley off the table until something definitively happens with him in terms of OU announcing new terms with him or LSU announcing a new HC. I think it's a long shot now but I don't think anyone should be ruled out just yet.

The whole thing is strange. But it doesn’t make sense that the admin would have found out last night that Lincoln Riley wasn’t coming. It doesn’t make sense that many of our other “targets” got extensions or are heading elsewhere without the LSU job being filled. All the smoke from Riley came with many caveats, it’s possible he was never the guy. However at this point, it’s got to be a guy that was either expected to make the playoff from the start or an NFL guy, otherwise there is no reason for a holdup.
I’ll say this, if I’m woody and had an LOI/MOU signed by Riley, and he ultimately backs out, I’d leak that shite ASAP (or really after a coach is signed). Let the world know he plays games.

I was honestly skeptical when the Jay Johnson and Will Wade Twitter follows stuff showed up. Woodward KNEW that stuff wouldn’t go unnoticed and is that really how you want to announce that hire? That now seems like a smoke screen as large as any but is a subtle enough move that it would be believed by most

The more telling thing in all of this is Brad Davis being interim HC and not Mickey who is titled our associate HC. It gives credence to some chatter about a few coaches remaining.
If that's the case you have to assume you have a guy that already agreed to it.

Brady is not coming back to a college job. Doug Pederson has been unemployed all year, so why wait for an announcement??
