Listing just one HC incase Orgeron gets fired.

HC-Matt Campbell (Iowa State) Him and his DC are very innovative with defense and have shown they can slow down the Big 12 offenses.
Campbell also has an Offensive background, including OC and OL Coach.

Offense:
-OC-Kendal Briles (Arkansas)
-OC-Jeff Lebby (Ole Miss) ***I think he is very gettable.
-PGC/QB- Brandon Streeter (Clemson)
***Has been a Recruiting Coordinator
-OC/PGC/QB- Shane Waldron (Rams PGC and QB coach) *Considered by Coach O last year.
-PGC/OC-Russ Callaway (LSU Analyst)
*Experience at OC, WR Coach and QB Coach.
-PGC/OC-Jorge Munoz (Baylor PGC)
-PGC/OC-DJ Mangas Offensive Assistant with Carolina Panthers) *Been with Brady a few years. Would love to find him a spot on the staff.
-OL/RGC- Randy Clements (Ole Miss) Possibly stays with Jeff Lebby and has worked with Briles.
-OL- James Cregg (Current LSU OL Coach) (I go back and forth on him but I don’t know many OL coaches)
-WR-Mickey Joseph Current LSU WR coach (I think he is too important to recruiting and the locker room)
*I didn’t list a RB Coach since I’m not familiar with any gettable upgrades over Kevin Faulk.

Defense:
-DC-David Reeves (UAB)
-Co-DC/Linebackers Mike Nolan (Cowboys DC) LSU ties but doubtful to leave NFL even if fired by Dallas.
-DC/Safeties John Heacock (Current Iowa State DC but would need to come with Matt Campbell)
-Cornerbacks/RC-Corey Raymond (LSU) Coach Raymond is hopefully here for a long time.
-DL/RC Todd Bates (Clemson)
***Current Clemson Recruiting Coordinator
-DB/DC Kris Richard(Cowboys 2019) Defensive backs coach, defensive play caller & passing game coordinator
-ST McMahon (he needs to stay as long as possible)

I would love to get Streeter and Bates from Clemson but I don’t see it happening unless they are promoted to at the minimum to Co-OC and Co-DC with pay raises. Both are great recruiters.
-Bates has been coaching DTs and would fit with Orgeron working with the DEs.

Mike Nolan would be a home run hire if he had some great recruiters on staff. I love how he runs the 3-4 and 4-3 depending on his personnel. I would give this hire as about a 5% chance of happening.

Lebby or Briles could bring Clements with them. Lebby may want a chance to call plays since Lane Kiffin is the play caller.

You guys have the rant for hypotheticals. This board is for actual coaching jobs that are open.

You put a lot of time into this and lead off with Kendall Briles. LSU fans need to lose their infatuation with him. We are staring down very similar accusations to what happened at Baylor and somehow people think Briles would be an option to come in after that

I personally don’t believe Briles would be a candidate but I listed him because of his popularity on here.
Just like I don’t think Mike Nolan would come here.
I could see Briles being hired if the Title IV stuff isn’t as bad as believed. But I still think it’s only a very small chance he gets hired.
I listed Mike Nolan because of his short stint on the LSU coaching staff in the 80’s but that means nothing and he probably doesn’t even remember it. Lol. He will be an NFL lifer.

Kevin Sumlin should be the new LSU head coach.

Noel Mazzone should be his OC

John Chavis should be his DC

So it is written

O isn’t going anywhere until after next season barring some freak start. If they win 8 games he’s back. I do think Pelini doesn’t survive this season though.

Yeah I agree about O coming back. I just listed Campbell just in case and because I wanted to list his DC.

I’m starting to think Pelini could have a good defense next year. He had no time to install a completely new defense that the players had never played in. A full year in his system could make a huge difference along with recruiting the players that would fit his defense or even a transfer or 2.
With that said, I would rather him gone.

His defense has looked competent in flashes but at the same time, those busted coverages are something that we will never get out of our heads and I’m sure Coach O feels the same way. We’re LSU I get it’s an offensive driven conference and the whole shutdown Defense team is a thing of the past but good lord, mizzou & state streaking wide open? It’s not a one time thing it happened all season long. Pelini is in over his head and does not have what it takes to defend modern offenses. We need a younger guy who’s seen it. I’d snag someone who has had some success in slowing down RPO based offenses. Maybe a DC from the big12 or ACC. Someone that’s not washed up.
