Coaches that should be mentioned; Coaches that shouldn't

There are a lot of names being thrown around right now. IMO, here are the top three names that haven't been mentioned that should:
1. Pat Fitzgerald - Northwestern
2. Kevin Sumlin - Houston
3. Art Briles - Baylor
Three that are mentioned that shouldn't:
1. Jon Gruden - Pipe dream
2. Tommy Tuberville - He's on the back end of his career. Generally, I vote agaisnt going with older coaches that have already been at big schools. They seem to have less steam the 2nd time around.
3. Urban Meyer - I think there is no way he gets back into coaching months after retiring from Florida.

Briles and Fitzgerald both fit the profile of LSU's two previous HC hires, for sure.

Saban shouldn't be mentioned because it is completely unrealistic.
I was naming coaches that LSU might have some negligible shot with.

I like Art Briles - I mentioned his name the other day and he fits the profile of what we've hired in the past. Fitzgerald played at NW so I don't think he's one to leave so soon.

Yes. No question. Make Saban say no. Make Gruden say no. Make Patterson say no. In that order.
Then go to Fitzgerald, then Sumlin.

It's cause he is lil chuckie - and most reflective of a Saban style coach.

Why? I'd take a guy with proven college experience - Fitzgerald, Briles, Petersen, Patterson, Pinkel, etc - before him.

Not as much as people think
Sure, the odds of him coming aren't great but I believe there at least are odds. He's never said that he doesn't want to coach in college and I actually think he wants to give it a shot if he doesn't believe the right NFL job is out there. Pay would be top notch, although not as much as he makes for MNF, this job wouldn't require as much time as an NFL job would, recruiting here is decently easy compared to other schools due to LSU being the only school in a talent rich state. He likes the south and knows he could succeed here. Plus, he'd be close to his good friend SP.
If he was to decide he wants to give college a try, he knows this would be about as good as a situation that he could have and would at least listen to what Alleva has to say

anyone can say what they want - but i think with what Dan Mullens has done at Miss. St with what he has and had to work with speaks for itself as well.

Older guy that has already had success with a big program. I prefer younger, hungrier coaches.

Id still make the best offer we could and let him decide to turn it down. He's the best coach in the game.
