Couldn’t this all be avoided if the NCAA structured their contracts like the NFL? Once a coach signs he has to fulfill his contract before going elsewhere unless the team releases him or trades him. Like what the saints did with Sean Payton. When he “retired” he wasn’t allowed to go coach elsewhere because we had his rights per se.

Should be the same way with the players. They’re getting paid and shouldn’t allow to just transfer every year. This could all be a lot cleaner if the NCAA would get their act together.

This is what you call ripple effects, you can't change the dynamic of something that's been in place for decades like adding portal and NIL and not expect some fall out. They will have to address it

So, the school could fire at will, see BK, but coaches have to fulfill their contract?

Kind of one sided, no?

NCAA won’t touch that contract question with a 10 ft pole. They’ve been to court a half dozen times regarding athletes, contracts, NIL compensation, player eligibility, etc .. and lost every single case. They’re not gonna knight for a change in coaching contracts and get embarrassed again.

Coaches when fired still get their contract paid out for the buyout amount.

I would love for my employer to fire me and still pay me

Is there any buyout or forfeiture involved with LK?
