We won the SEC in Archer's first year with far less talent relative to our opponents than a new coach would have next year should Les leave.
Actually, we failed to win the SEC in Archer's first year despite having sick, sick talent. Todd Kinchen said of that 1987 team, "the 3 stooges could've coached that team to 10 wins."
Archer's recruiting got increasingly worse. I mean serious NOSEDIVE. LSU was probably one of the top 3 most talented teams in the SEC (top 5-10 nationally easy) in 1987 and by 1990 LSU was easily in the bottom 3 of the SEC. The NFL draft beared that out.
See A&M in the 2000's and Nebraska under Solich/Callahan, OU under Gibbs/Blake. Plenty of examles of top programs that seem to be on cruise control spiraling downward.

Well, um, Duke isn't exactly a coaching mecca. Who do you think was applying for the job?
Steve Spurier did & won there
BTW, how's Alleva's year 3 Basketball hire doing?

You seem committed to looking at the most negative. Not gonna be able to stop you.
But hell, as long as you mentioned basketball, I'll make the following observations.
LSU Basketball =/= LSU football NOT EVEN CLOSE
Hiring after Brady's last year/talent =/= hiring after this LSU football season/talent
Oh, and yeah, Spurrier coached at Duke. Give me a list in the last 50 years of the #2-10 best coaches to land at Duke.

Programs that constantly change coaches are not good ones. So yes coaches come and they go. That is not a good thing.
LSU has won 11 games 6 times. 4 have been under Miles.

If Miles decides to leave, before he can, Alleva should fire him and say we want a Louisiana Man as our head coach.
