I would say obviously the conference has something to do with it, but I get your point.

Croom got coach of the year recently at Miss. St.

The expectation level is reasonable and with some quality wins, could be a stepping stone.

Wash. and Wash. St. are on a path to nowhere, and a .500 season wouldn't carry a lick of weight on the national scene.

You can't really tell me the lowest PAC team is equivalent to the lowest SEC team, can you?

Historically, Washington is way better than MSU. Being in the SEC doesn't mean MSU doesn't suck. Washington has much less competition than does MSU. It's also much easier to recruit to Washington than MSU

Washington has less competition than Washington?

OK.

I actually think recruiting in the South is better than the Northwest.

Washington is definitely better historically, but so is the PAC-10.

Washington will no doubt have less competition for athletes, but LA and MS (esp. LA) has the most NFL athletes per capita.

I'm just playing Devil's Advocate. I get your point, and the move would be surprising to me, but when the Mountain West beat's your conference 6-1, maybe it's time for a wake up call.

It is, but MSU gets everyone's leftovers in the SEC

Washington has outrecruited MSU by a fair amount over the past 5 years based on star ratings

This would suck because he is a hell of a coach. His teams are always very disciplined!

Of course, I don't have to live in Boise fricking Idaho, so it's easy for me to say.

You and anybody else blasting Boise obviously don't know shite. Boise is usually in just about any ranking of the most desirable places to live.

Even if he doesn't want the U-Dub job his team should be stacked next year. Chill for another year, maybe make a BCS bowl, then leave.

Washington still pulls a lot of players from California. Look at the recruiting rankings. Even as they have been abysmal, Washington's recuriting hasn't been that bad and better than MSU's has been.

Washington has actually competed for National Championships. They won it all in 1991. They were PAC-10 co-champs as recently as 2000, and their overall w/l record is not that much different from LSU's. They are not a perennial doormat a la Mississippi State. Washington is head-and-shoulders above MSU, but their last two coaching hires, Gilbertson and Willingham, have proven to be absolute disasters.

The only reason i could see him coming to Starkvegas is if he wants to go to a place where the expectations are not very high and build them up and continue to get his name out as a coach to take over a " high profile " job later on.
