Exactly. They're fricking morons. Everyone in America knows Chip Kelly likes UCLA more than Florida. It's no big deal. Nobody knows, or believes, that Florida isn't interested in Chip Kelly anymore. They just need to accept that they're second best.

Kelly may end up at ASU. The only reason ASU isn't a legit power is because they don't care to be one. The administration there is more concerned with boosting enrollment at an exponential pace. They are actually talking about how to get enrollment up to 100k.

As for Kelly and UF I see one of two options for what happened:

1. Kelly simply doesn't want to be in the SEC. If that's the case, then I don't want him anywhere near UF. We already had one coward in Meyer. Don't need to repeat the trainwreck of Meyer's final 18 months at UF. To save face, since UF will go after Frost and Frost and Kelly have the same firm, the narrative may be that UF is moving on. Later Stricklin will just say the contract terms didn't make sense.

2. Kelly and his agent got stupid greedy. To cover cost of living differential and taxation differential, UCLA has to offer about 30% more than UF (or more). If Kelly and his agent told UF to match UCLA dollar for dollar, then I'm sure UF would tell them to pound sand. UF isn't going to go from say $5m / yr to $7m / yr, just because California is a communist waste land.
